We were able to get a King room on the first floor at the group rate. They said they had 20 rooms left from the reserved block.

Cheers

Howard

Can anyone confim the discounted rate for the hotel? We were quoted $108 per night plus taxes for 1 night with a king for 2 people. Just wanted to confirm that was the discounted rate.

Howard,

Yes, you did get the correct NERDS discounted rates. The per night rates are different depending on which nights you book. Weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) are more than midweek nights.

The group rates for NERDS are: (Midweek/Weekend)

Single $78/$88

Double $98/$118

Triple $116/$136

Quad $134/$154

So, if you booked multiple nights with different rates, the hotel is quoting you the average as the "per/night" rate. For example, If you arrive on Wednesday (8/17) and leave on Sunday (8/21) and there are two people in your room, you would have two nights at the midweek rate of $98/night (Wed/Thur) and two nights at the Weekend rate of $118/night (Fri/Sat). The average of all four nights together would be $108/night which is what you where quoted.

Glad you're going to make the trip up from Texas. It should be a great time...

P.S. You should also sign-up on the NERDS website so we can keep track of who/how many people are planning to be there.

Ed.

Howard, the rates are also published on the NERDS web site here: Click me

If you are only staying one night you either didn't get the discount or they gave you an extra discount (depending on what night you are staying). As Ed mentioned above, for a single night you should be paying either $118 per weekend night or $98 per weekday. If this is for a Friday or Saturday you are getting an extra discount!! ;)

Well, I debated this for a while. The only catch was that Aug-Oct is a pretty busy time at work, and I'm still working on ensuring the time off. But after seeing the pics of the area, I said, "Eff it, I'm signing up." I haven't called off in several years, and I may not feel well enough to work that week. Well enough to ride, but not to work. :D

Oh, and they still had rooms available when I called. Anyone need/want a roomie? WARNING - I snore, or so I'm told.

Fred Just for numbers we have a friend from Rangeley coming to NERDS with us, she rides a Bandit 600 and will be staying with us as a triple. :clapping:

Some curious statistics I've gathered from the NERDS website sign-up and a recent check with the Commodore's Inn seems to indicate some people may have "commitment" issues...

(Stats as of Saturday 6/11. I know the numbers have changed slightly since then)

59/38 People/Bikes who signed up on the NERDS website as planning to attend

54/35 People/Bikes who indicated that they will be staying at the Commodore's Inn

47/26 People/Rooms actually booked at the Commodore's Inn

So there appear to be a bunch of people who say they are planning to stay at the hotel, but have not yet made reservations. (and since I have both the website signup list and the current reservation list from the hotel, I know who you are... :glare: )

I encourage everyone who plans to stay at the hotel to not wait around on making reservations. The hotel only has a total of 72 rooms. We reserved a block of 45 for NERDS. As of Saturday, they had reservations for 26 of the 45 rooms in our block. ALL OF THE REMAINING ROOMS AT THE HOTEL THAT ARE NOT IN OUR BLOCK ARE SOLD OUT... The hotel management has already made inquiries to us asking whether we think we're going to need all of the 45 rooms we have blocked out. We have not given up any rooms yet, but they're probably not going to let us sit on a bunch of empty rooms for too much longer when they're turning people away who want to book rooms for that weekend.

With the Commodore's very liberal 24 hour full-refund cancellation policy, Why is anyone waiting to make reservations? Once the hotel is fully booked, I guarantee that you will pay more to stay at a comparable hotel anywhere else in the Stowe area.

I made my reservations nearly 5 weeks ago and they were supposed to send me a confirmation email which they didnt. I called to confirm this past weekend and they did have record of it for which I was thankful. They sent me the email. You might want to do the same.

Mem, Geezer, Aroostook - You're all on the reserved rooms list. Bungie - You're on the "Slackers" list...

In fact, there seems to be a pattern of reluctance from our friends to the north. Of the 8 people registered from Canuckistan, only 3 have made reservations at the hotel so far.

If going the road less traveled. This is my route from manchester NH.

A few things to note about your route: Rte 114 and 202 are both fine. You can "make good time" on either, if you know what I mean.

Rt 31 from Hillsborough up through Washington to Goshen is a beat-up mess. You'd be much better off staying on 114 from Henniker up to Bradford then get on 103 up past Sunapee. Then Rte 11 to Newport and you are back on your track.

VT 131 is a beautiful road. And riding up Rte 100 is also great

Fair warning: Many of the planned routes use the northern parts of Rte 100 either coming or going from Stowe, so you'll definitely have a chance to ride on it during the week.

Here's an alternate approach route that we have used to get to Stowe from Manchester, NH: Click me Some really great roads on that route.
