It is highly unlikely that that would happen in NE during August (the date selection may be related to that ;) ).
Remember last year - aboot a week after NERDS a certain hurricane moved through??
Ya, we got that out of the way so it won't be an issue again for years. Some of the roads and bridges have lingering damage that will be noticeable this year.

I expect that to be some of the entertainment for those that were here last year (or are local). The devastation from Irene is still pretty visable all through VT, although it will not be an impediment to our rally fun.

Irene was a "Storm of the Century," maybe even "the Millennium" for VT. It had never happened quite so severely before in modern history. Not very likely to happen again. August is early for Hurricanes. EOM in September is far more at risk of them than NERDS in August. And most of them track along the coast or curl harmlessly out to sea by the time it gets this far north. VT is typically completely safe from all of that stuff. Which was why it was hit so hard when the storm tracked right through the state. They were definitely not ready for it.

Just remember, in New England if you don't like the weather just wait a minute it'll change :dribble:

You need to learn how to interpret weather forecasts for Northern New England. That is actually an excellent weather forecast for any time in August. Every warm and sunny summer day there will be a chance of pop-up afternoon thunderstorms. The words that key you in that this isn't a serious weather system are: "scattered" and "isolated" (the latter is very good).

When it says that there is a 60% chance of isolated Thundershowers, that means 60% chance that somewhere in the region may get a thundershower, not a 60% chance that it will rain where you will be. Wednesday's forecast is actually the worst outlook. Showers are typically more widespread and steadier. Perfect for the Tech Day at Ed's but hopefully it'll clear out for our Cook Out. But it's still too far away to be fully credible.
Fred- You never steered me wrong yet, maybe you guys really do have some hoo-flung-dung type of weather system and it would actually make sense since New England always gets our (NY) leftover beer pee puddles (from the night before) absorbed into the hovering clouds and dumped onto the next State to the East.

So I will help out the situation. I will make sure everybody uses the urinals (and not the woods) this weekend so no extra 'moisture' gets absorbed and sent East. I will also keep my rooster tails down on the lake, also I won't even break a sweat if it keeps New England dry.

Now the hard part will be telling my g/f not to get too excited cuz we can't have any damp panties.

Only two days to go and there hasn't been a post on the NERDS forum for four days! Hope it didn't get cancelled without anyone telling me!

I am headed out sometime tomorrow morning and hope to arrive and get the tent pitched before dark. Looking forward to it!!

Ross

It better not be! (cancelled) My navigator and I have been scheming routes for THaPS. We also are very much looking forward to this event.

Long range forecast says Wednesday may be a little damp with passing showers and T-storms. Thursday and Friday look good. But being New England you really just never know. Mountains make their own weather.

We spoke to the weather gods and explained to them how it would be "inconvenient" if it rained too much this week. They seemed to understand and gave us their word that the weather would be good.

Unfortunately, the weather gods up here in New England can be somewhat untrustworthy, so we'll see...

In any case, NERDS is definitely NOT CANCELLED!

All of the preparations are complete and we're expecting a record gathering of NERDS this year. :yahoo:

Ed.

Like anyone is going to stay home... LOL... Will see y'all Wednesday afternoon, rain or shine.... We'll have a good time regardless!! Saturday looks a bit damp too, but all that could change between now and then. Rain gear was invented for a reason, but a monsoon doesn't seem likely.

Keep praying to the NE weather Gods... it's getting better!

Both Thurs and Fri are now "Partly cloudy" instead of the past projected "Isolated T-Showers"

I wouldn't worry about the weather. When my wife and I were on our weeklong trip they called for thunderstorms every damn day of the trip. We got maybe 1/2 hour of light rain most days, with only one day of a couple hours of rain.

You aren't gonna melt! Have a great time everybody! :clapping:

Yeah, the weather looks fairly good overall. At least there will be no washout. A little sprinkle here and there if we get it won't be a big deal. My trip to Stowe from Pittsburgh, PA looks great weather wise. It will be nice to travel a moderate distance and not arrive soaked. Travel safely everyone and I'll see you there.

Well, the weather is good and have but a hour to go... we have made good time, looking forward to NERDS..., anyone say two days early? See ya'll soon.

Zawowza! U get the early bird award.

If I didn't have to run my business I would be right there with ya :) yep, I'm jealous!

Well ET and his lovely wife Bonnie beat us to the Commodores Inn. They definitely get the prize for first arrival, and several days earlier than they had even planned.

A few of us organizer types got together this morning for a breakfast feast at Parkers Maple Barn and just now rolled in after a fantastic ride up led by the Asphalt Junkies (Paul and Gina). There were some ominous looking clouds in the afternoon, and we did encounter some wet roads where it had rained earlier, but we managed to dodge all of the precip.

The Party has officially begun!!

Way to go E.T.! :clapping:

That dude is everywhere! ;)

Alrighty! Be there in about 40 hours. So looking forward to it. Almost had a setback today though. Left the office around 7:00 and saw this jewelry in my tire:

Thought a second about pulling it out but decided that since it looks like I've had it along for a awhile that a 30 mile commute wouldn't hurt. So I yanked it out when I got home. Glad not to hear a hissing noise.

I have a couple used tires I could have swapped out but a rear tire change is not in my pre NERDS departure plan.

See you guys and gals soon!
