Cool! Ray and his other brother Ray are going to make it. I haven't ridden with both of you together since SEOR a couple of year ago. Now if we can get raYzerman to show up, we'll have our fill of Ray's. Should be a great time.

Well, hell. After realizing I am going to NAFO, doing the Heaven to Hell ride to Death Valley and coming back to SC via TOH points, this didn't leave me much time at home before shoving off for NERDS. So I am bowing out. Definitely will miss seeing some folks, and oh yeah, some cooler weather. Getting ready to plunge into plus 100 degrees going out to NAFO via Arizona. Not too smart, am I?

I"m toying with coming out for this one. I"m not sure if I request time off if I'll get it (not enough notice). But, if I invite my manager (Jim with a new FJ09 and is itching for a trip), he'll pretty much have to say yes if he wants to come.

I"d really like to pop into NH and ride the Kanc. again

The Mount Washington route's for you, Bungie! You can skip the ride up Mt Wash, and still go down through Pinkham Notch past it, up to the top of Cathedral Ledge for a great view, ride through Bear Notch and ride the Kank Passaconaway to the Vermont border.

edit to add: Best to run this route on a weekday for minimal traffic. The Kank gets awful busy on weekends. I ran the Kank from I-93 west yesterday afternoon to pick up a photo tag in Woodsville. No cars to even have to pass. It is in great shape until you get to about Bath, then the road surface gets a little choppy, but still fun.

I am leaving south east CT on Friday morning, Anyone interested in riding up together? I will probably do I91 to South Deerfield and then all back roads. Leave about 8, be in South Deerfield about 9:30.

On Saturday I plan on doing the New Hampshire Piedmont ride. I am willing to lead a small (about 10) group, if anyone wants to join me. Pace will be limit +10

The google map link was temporary. If you want to download the "official" NERDS routes the links are in the first post. The NERDS routes are similar to some of the NER routes, but not identical.

I've done all the loops except the Mt Washington one; usually somebody will nix it saying "it's too windy!" ...etc. (up there). So with that being said... I will try to incorporate that loop this year, and from the above suggestions, sounds like Friday would be better than Saturday.

Quick question for those that have been to NERDS before. Do they have a computer that the public can use? There wasn't any mention of it on there website. I could backpack my own if needed but I would rather not.

Why one Vermont town is un-paving roads instead of repairing potholes

That's OK. I generally try to avoid Montpelier any way. Interesting idea though, going back to unpaved roads. That's going to suck big time in the winter. The unpaved roads in Vermont do not get plowed to the dirt. They intentionally leave some snow cover and just sand the crap out of them for traction. Don't think that will work too well in the city. Those Vermonters are a unique thinking bunch.

They need to do that here. I've been saying it for years. They pave a road, and tear it up the next year for sewer improvements. Worse, it just came to light that the company contracted for the paving bought crap Bitumen that was cut with old motor oil. Which while being cheap, cracks and falls apart in two years.

I've completely given up riding the FJR 'in town'. Between the shite roads and the asshole drivers I'm done. The trail bike with 10" suspension travel is the ideal vehicle here.

If I were smart. I'd buy a front end shop and retire a wealthy man. But I'm not, hell if I was smart, I wouldn't live here.

I remember seeing a compuker station off to the side in the entrance lobby, again as others have said, this was a few years ago.

They do have 3 Jacuzzi's! lol, to help sooth your aching joints

I can't remember who I was talking to at NAFO, maybe Jeff, about having a masseuse or two on hand each day after the ride. I bet they would make a killing.

Personally, I already have a one hour deep tissue massage scheduled for Monday...

Yeah, let's throw a lot of salt on dusty roads to keep the dust down. That will be good for the environvermonters. I bet if you call it calcium chloride, they'll think it is a vitamin supplement instead of a metal eating chemical.
