Well, the concrete show has come to an end.

They'll be back in the morning to just clean up, remove the last couple of form boards/anchors, and perhaps cut a couple of lines in the approach.

I can't begin to describe how professional these guys are, how much thought and concern they put into their work, and what experts they are at their craft. Anyone in this part of the country should want these guys on their next concrete job, whether or not a garage is involved.

Here's the completed concrete job...

Forming the swale that will divert water to the side into the pre-existing swale from the old patio work. This will keep regular rainfall from dumping under our cantilevered house edge.

This shot shows the pipe for the new underground electric run for the garage, and the rounded edge back toward the patio. It's hard to see, but those shadow lines run right on top of the rounded transition from the higher approach ramp back toward the house.

And, a shot from the back of the garage all the way to the street.

The word from the company owner today is that framing is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 27. Probably won't be posting many photos between now and then.

All the best,

Shane

Looking good. You will have fun filling it up. Then you find it's not big enough so you need to add on. It's a sickness enjoy your new digs.

I second the epoxy for the floors. Painted grey epoxy floors look awesome, just did mine this summer. Totally makes the garage look like a high end shop, and super easy to clean. If you haven't put concrete sealer down, don't, as you need to remove the sealer with acid if you paint. It will take no time to paint, but a week to cure.

If you this route, put one coat down, let it dry, 48 hours later do a second coat but add some texture material, otherwise the floors will be slippery.

Go taller if you can, 9 ft is a good start, 10 is better. Makes it feel bigger and more room to maneuver.
Also gives you room to add a small car lift to get it high enough to work under if you want to. 12' ceiling would be better if you have the budget and room.

And so the framing begins!

The crew arrived this morning at 7:30 (these guys are always on time!), and so did the big truck loaded up with materials.

Here's a couple snaps of the load-in, with a video link or two as well...

This truck has a forklift built into it!

You should give us a **** (not safe for wife) garage **** warning.

Seriously, I've got plenty of space, but a new shop, starting from scratch, right next to my back door, stirs something in me....

Oooh no. Those kinds of sites end up costing me too much money!

As I said before, I enjoy spending OTHER PEOPLE'S money.

I took a couple of short videos again as well, and will try to post them later...

Shane

Did they nail on the OSB before they stood up the stud walls? That was a new one on me.

Today I spent all of my New Shed money and all of my Offshore Boat money. I did not get a shed or an offshore boat.

Yes, they assembled the walls on the floor, then lifted them right up onto the curb wall.

The crew just showed up again with another load of supplies (sheetrock, insulation), and started today's work. Sounds like shingles, siding, and rough-in electrical could all happen today if everything goes as planned.
