So are you the General contractor for this project or did you just find a builder? Everything is falling into place way to well. Working like clockwork.

Until the building inspector notices the new building that didn't have permits and needs to be torn down and the slab ripped up. Just kidding, though that did happen to a fellow coworker that was being his own contractor and missed a site inspection before the basement was poured. It wasn't noticed until the framing was done. They did make him tear it down and rip out the basement concrete then start over.

Anyhoo, nice man cave to play in! Even better, you already have a great toy set to live in the new toy box. And perhaps a nice dog house to live in as necessary.

I want to say "Awesome" but in fact, I'm mostly just jealous as hell.

Since I'm out of "likes" for the day...

We are using a local builder, Affordable Construction, out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

They have another branch out of Des Moines--the owners are brothers that go by "The Garage Guys". That's pretty much all they do, and you can tell when seeing them in action.

They have their own concrete company, so all that gets subbed is the overhead door, gutters, and electrical.

All the best,

Shane

Yeah, we want to make sure to have everything done by the book--had a bad experience up in Minneapolis with a bathroom remodel once...

Tearing out concrete to please an inspector is not my definition of fun. BTDT.

All the best,

Shane

Alas, the electrical and gutters will likely wait until tomorrow...no moving bikes in tonight.

So what color are you going to paint the walls?
I'm thinking wallpaper. There are all types of wall paper running 8 to 12 feet long and 8 feet tall. you can even get custom wallpaper printed. All the following are room size wallpaper, you can get under water, sports, etc themes. I wallpapered a previous office with an outdoor scene from Alaska; people would walk into my office and get vertigo from the mountain view. Then they started coming in with yellow post-it notes to show where they would build their house

Any of these would be fantastic!

Those could be nice for the folks who live where it snows a lot. Go out, point the bike at the wall, and then sit and make vroom vroom noises for a while.

I'm amazed at how fast this project was done. I wouldn't rant either. :)

If it was my project, I would have just now got the old garage out of the way. Maybe...

Shane, trust me on this, you will want to paint before you move all your stuff back in.

If you don't some where down the line you will say, "Damn it, I should have painted the ceiling and walls before I moved everything back in".

Take it from a fellow that has already muttered those words.

Oh and the gutters look good.

Er............ ain't the drywall mudders coming first? Don't do that yourself, takes too long... a couple of experienced guys can get that done in short order. Then paint with white primer before anything gets moved in as Niehart says, and leave it that way (reflective, since there's only a few windows).

I gotta say, if the only snag is the electrician being a day late...you sir are doing pretty darn well.
