Not being impressed by my stock shield I started looking for recommendations. Rifle seem to come out tops and I am prepared to pay the shipping costs to England for a good product.

I have e-mailed twice through their website and asked three questions:

1. Do they do the windshield in clear?

2. I have Yamaha Knuckle Visors (Mirror covers) like these fitted -

https://www.cmcbikes.com/genuine-yamaha-knuckle-visors-yamaha-fjr-1300-a-s-06-09.html

There is only 7mm clearance between the bottom and the standard windshield. Will the Rifle windshield with

the Tuning Blocks still fit?

3. Being unable to fathom the 'How to' measure up instructions. I'm 5'10" with 32" inside seam. Distance from where the seat meets the tank to my mid eye level is 30". What screen would they recommend? I'm thinking +3 high +4 wide.

The first e-mail went 4 days ago and the second yesterday. I've not received any form of reply and am disappointed considering how complimentary everyone is about the product and company.

I have the Rifle +5, +4 on a Russell Seat in the low position and am 6'2 with a 34-35 inch inseam. I was surprised to find that I look through the shield in the full up position (I prefer to look over the shield). It is a bit quieter looking through the shield but not enough to look through a piece of plastic regardless of its superior optics, however, the wife says she gets less wind with it full up and it was welcome one morning when it was cold. Also, the full up position kept me dryer when we got rained on. I thought I was going to send it back to get a shorter shield but the benefits outweigh any negatives. The only negative I can think of is that I'd like to have more airflow in the lowest position on warm days but I intend to use the stocker (which is a very good warm and cool weather shield) when it starts to heat up here in the Dallas area.

I bought a Triumph Tiger back in February and traded it for a 2008 FJR with virtually no miles. Why? Partly because the friggin wind management was so poor. No matter what I did, buffeting was my companion. And I hate buffeting. I spent over $300 trying to get it right with no avail.

The FJR by comparison has excellent wind protection right out of the box. I just added a $275 Rifle screen and now its perfect. I almost cant believe its this good but today I rode without earplugs for the first time in years. Very happy about it.

Ordered my Rifle clear +3 last Thursday, received it 5 days later, late yesterday, and put it on the AM. It's a snap to install and looks good. No Pics or test ride as our weather today is crap.

And 2Bull, I have a Triumph Speed Triple, which has no fairing at all, and you couldn't ask for a cleaner air flow. It seems that in so many cases a fairing just dicks things up.

Hey there, I have a 2007 Tiger and a new to me 2009 FJR. I went thru a couple of shields with the Tiger, CalSci, Triumph's tour and finally the MVRO with the laminar lip, which worked perfect. The FJR with the stock shield is worse than the Tiger now, looking at getting the Rifle +3.

I ordered the +3 on the 7th. it came yesterday the 17th. but because of a birthday party I didn't get a chance to install it. Hopefully this afternoon I can get it done. This is the perfect time to test and see how well it keeps those chilly winds off. :yahoo:

Just got my +3+4 today and installed it. Went for a short ride on the interstate and am completely satisfied. I did hear a few engine noises that I had never heard before, but I guess I'll get used to it. It sure does look funny when you first see it but I'm sure that impression will go away. I got the feeling that I will be able to ride in much colder weather...

I too thought I'd ride mine in cold weather, but then this happened last night. Test ride has been put off for awhile.

Would it be wrong to say that it will be in the low 70's tommorow in Dallas? My son wore shorts today.

Not at all! :) We suffered the heat of SCal for 30+ years and now enjoy the seasons and life in a less congested area. Dallas, hey, there has to be an ice storm just around the corner coming your way. ;)

Yep and everyone will freak out when it does....practically the whole city goes into a panic when we get a few snow flurries.

I don't hear clunking, but there seems to excessive whistling between 40 and 65 on my newly installed Rifle. Has anyone solved this issue?

I have this between 20 and about 40. Talked with Rifle and they say it "common" on GenIIs all makes....

While on a cross country recently in a state with no-helmet laws I took mine off and found that if I put my hand between the windscreen and the FJR's mounting mechanism that the "w" covers it went away. I've not taken time to put some tape and/or make a "plate" to fill the space.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check if that's the source of the whistle on my next ride and report back.
