I wonder if they could make a version (assuming they make any at all) that we can finish ourselves. I was thinking that I might like to paint mine matte black so that it doesn't stick out so much and would be easier to repaint as needed.

I'm not perfect like most of you guys and sometimes hit my foot on the pillion seat when I am throwing my leg over the bike.

interested but don't see how they're going to beat the Corbin price.

R&D cost money. Materials costs money. Etc.

I'd be surprised if they can do it for a significantly lower price.

Or maybe we'll find out how much profit Corbin is getting on those things... :glare:

Just make your own. I did.

And I made the yellow one too. ;)

Hey, maybe we can get Randy to make them for all of us! :D
Nice work there!
Thank you.

But as far as making more? No way. It took me over 2 months of being out there every night......sanding, grinding, bondo, etc etc.

Now the yellow one in the background was fairly easy because the base I started with was the seat cowl on the SV. I had to fab the base of the FJR smuggler from scratch, and there was no way to make a form to duplicate it. I also told Jim Shook (owner of Speedpac) that I wouldn't mass produce it. Patent infringement and all that since I'm using his product for the top section.

I'm still considering, however, to make JUST a seat cowl for the FJR. Duplication on that would be fairly easy, and it would merely slip over the factory rear seat. Just not enough time, you know how that goes.

I only made the one for the SV after my friend/riding buddy hounded the HELL out of me until I gave in. He also got HIS hands dirty too. I was only going to do it if he sanded most of it. Now he too knows why I don't make more!

Any new news on this?

And, Randy -- wanted to add my kudos too on a gorgeous fab job. It looks great! And you know, a seat cowl for the back seat might be just what the doc ordered anyhoo...

Sorry guys, but I was trying to work out something with FSD for a new smuggler till I tried to install the hugger that i bought from them.

Please go have a look at all the post on the Hugger from FSD :assassin:

I have a so bad experience with them for the hugger that I am not interested in dealing with FSD anymore.

Hugger does not fit properly, it sit on a shelf in the garage actually till I find a solution or that I decide to throw it in the garbage

WARNING! WARNING! You should be VERY careful in dealing with FSD (Free Street Design - Franck). They will be very accommodative and accessible when wanting to purchase from them. Then...when you finally get what you ordered from them...and discover the inevetible problem(s) with their products...they will not respond to you.

Case in point. I ordered a hugger ('06 model) from them in the group buy. Once I finally got it here in Tennessee from France, it was one hell of a battle getting it mounted due to the poor engineering and design. There were no instructions included with the shipment and the box they shipped it in looked like something that had been used over a couple of times...and the packing...forget about it!! It's amazing it made it here from France in one piece. Later, however, Franck e-mailed me some instructions for mounting. I had already managed to get it mounted "my way" which Franck said should be OK (I used the second hole instead of the first hole on the left front attachment point and had to bend the metal bracket...which cracked the fiberglass around the bracket and I had to use epoxy to reinforce it... where it attaches to the final drive nut).

Well, I suppose I thought there was still hope for FSD. So, I ordered a hugger for my son's GSXR (due to price) and a front "fender extender" (don't know of anyone else making them for the '06 models yet) for my '06 FJR. Franck was very accommodating and we agreed on $200.00 for both items delivered to my office in the USA. Then, I waited and waited for the shipment and watched my credit card for evidence of billing...which should indicate shipping. Finally, my credit card was charged $216.07 which was not the agreed upon amount of the sale (and more than currency fluctuations I believe). Then, a few days later, the shipment arrived in the same shabby packaging condition as the original hugger. So, long story short, the GSXR hugger comes nowhere close to fitting the bike...and...there are no holes, mounting hardware, nothing to attach the hugger to the swing arm...even if it did fit that GSXR. To be fair, the fender extender did fit the FJR very well and came with double sided tape for mounting. But that's the only thing I have gotten from them that worked as expected...and it was something like $56.00...but it does do the job and fit well.

Finally, I e-mailed Franck on 7/25/06 to advise him of the problems with the GSXR hugger and the overcharge on the purchase. I have had no response from him as of now. And, based on what I'm reading on them here and the other boards, it looks as if they are going to stick me with a useless and worthless GSXR hugger. Therefore, in my opinion and based on my experience with FSD, you should be very leery of any dealings with this company.

Hope others have had better luck with them!

Pierre, how about a pic of the one you bought from them? I'd love to see it.

I might even be happy to take it off some dissapointed buyers hands....real cheap of course. ;)

EDIT>>> Sorry, just realised you bought the hugger, NOT the smuggler from them.
