We're working on narrowing down location and dates for EOM 09. As soon as we have information it will be posted right away so people can plan vacation time, etc...

Well, ya know, it was 38° F here in NH when we left for WV, and it was getting back down to that point on our return trip. The temps were like that for several hundred miles.
OMG! And you didn't stop to get a hotel! Just kidding Alan... please don't be offended.

But seriously folks, in the past I have heard a lot of bitching about all kinds of things EOM related. Have any of these bitching folk stepped up to plan one of these events like they'd like to see it done?

EOM has been great. Ok to keep it the same for me. However I'm ready for another one now. Is there any other Great to OK ride/thing happening in the next two months?

Mark, I am almost positive that I'll be riding in the mountains b4 serious snow flies. I say "serious" because it has already snowed in some places. You wanna' go out & play? I'm game... but I am tied up for this coming weekend & next. Please be in touch if you'd like to go play in the twisties for a weekend.

I'll take this conversation away from here so that we can stay on topic.

Heidi,

The posts on this topic I would file under "constructive user feedback"...I haven't sensed a complaining attitude. If in some other forms of communication, people have "bitched" about EOM, I apologize for them and pity them...cuz they evidently don't know what a good time is or how to have one. Although I didn't attend this year (my big trip being NAFO), it looked like a great event was had by all AND that it was quite a well run event. I was jealous of all of you having that great time...

Hopefully I'll be able to travel east this coming year on a low mileage '04...whenever that happens.

Ok, perhaps I worded it incorrectly. You are right & I am sorry about that... really I am.

I am sure that the feedback that Jason requested will be taken into consideration. I think that his idea of asking for feedback was a great one.

So, I am re-wording my question... have any of the folks w/ constructive feedback stepped up to plan an EOM meet so that things can be the way that those constructive feedback folks would like to see the meet? If not, then you might consider hosting the 2011 meet? Looking for good, kind souls to do the dirty deed.

Actually, I am happy to see so much interest on this subject. I have witnessed folks who actually WANT to take one for the team. Not so, once upon a time. There were 10' pole marks all over the subject of hosting a meet.

A late August EOM would work if it were held in a more northern location.
Yes, & then it would only be horrible until us southern folk are several hundred miles away from our southerly homes...

When it's hot all the time, everyplace, all you need to worry about bringing is rain gear. When you set out at low temperatures you have to bring all your cold gear. When riding one up that isn't so bad, but two up it puts a real premium on luggage space.
I wasn't complaining or bitching. Heidi said that it was too hot to ride in August, I pointed out that it is pretty cold to ride out of New England in September. It's easier to pack for heat than cold, especially when two up.

The Lewisburg, WV area is pretty well central to most of the people that attend. My two up ride was ~2.5k miles round trip including some of the WV rides plus our side trips. Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lewisburg is ~600 miles; Tuscaloosa, Alabama is ~600 miles; St Louis, Mo is 610 miles; Daytona Beach, FL is ~725 miles and Sandown, NH to Lewisburg is ~725 miles.

Well, for what it's worth I had a hell of a good time. This was the best put-together, most organized such event I have been to. It was a great job by all and the venue of WBGVA was the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ed, Lancaster, SC

I've been to a couple of 'user hosted' events, and by far, EOM was the best that I've ever been too. Regardless if EOM once again held in WV, I've already begun plans to return again next year.

Anybody down there excepting resume's for a computer programmer? :D

Not complaining because I don't do the planning, but I've never made EOM because I teach, making early September completely out of the question for me. Sorry I miss the show because I always hear such good things about it. I'll get to other meets...

Perhaps we should go leaf peeping in October? How many folks would be for that? Ahhh, leaf peeping the Cherohala Skyway would definitely be my idea of fun.

Alan, it isn't always too hot in the southern states to go riding in August. Very often though, the humidity is absolutely stifling.

Ask OhioFJR1300... him & his wife came here this past August on their Goldwing. I warned them!

Leaf peeping wouldn't help the teachers. I happen to thing that the mid September time frame is perfect, but I'd also like it to be available for everyone. The only way to resolve the teachers needs would be to pull it in to summer.

Not that this is what I want mind you, just an observation.

I appreciate the back up, but I also recognize that you can't please everyone. For the record, though, it's easier for me -- and I assume others who teach -- to do October than September. Things are a little less hectic. I mean, I've done the Void in October the last three years with no more trouble than anyone else who works. The flip side is that October is riskier weatherwise. I've ridden in VA in October and had to scrape ice off my windshield in the morning. Brrr.

And besides, I think there are only two or three teachers/professors around here.

Maybe us Nor'easterners should just pick up the idea of doing a gig on our side of the Mason-Dixon in the summer...

I was thinking a little south of there in West Virginia. Been there once, need to go back.

Apparently EOM is in Sept. I was there and I got some complaints. The weather was too perfect. The hotel sucked because they had a nice parking lot and they let people drink in the parking lot. And the roads, I swear I saw a piece of gravel somewhere. And my plate wasn't big enough.

Seriously, all I had to do was show up and drink beer and ride the FJR. I really appreciate all's efforts.

EOM is in Sept but eOM can be in August. Even 10 people going to Lewisburg to ride would be a good time. I doesn't have to be as planned as EOM. It can be a get together. And e2OM can be anytime someone wants to ride in WV. There is nothing better then riding the roads in WV. I have become a big fan.

Post something up and see what happens.

I like the way you think, Art!

There is always the SE Ohio Ramble that happens in the springtime. Why not a "Fall Ramble"?

It doesn't matter to me when it is, I will be there. This years EOM was my first vacation in five years, so maybe I am biased, but it was a great time.

Late summer, fall, spring, summer...doesn't matter. I rode the same area in mid august, and even though it was in the 90s, it was still a good time.

We just don't see roads like that up here in northern michigan, eh. :D

And, again...a BIGGGGGG THANKS TO ALL THE ORGANIZERS for your efforts, you did great.

Chris
