NGK CR8EIX threaded tip question

I just got a set of NGK CR8EIX iridium plugs that came with the following tips already mounted on the plugs:

I noticed that the OEM copper plugs don't have them installed. Should I remove these tips before I install the iridium plugs or it's ok to install them as is?

I don't think the plug wire will fit back on properly if you don't remove them.

FJR spark plug caps don't need them. Remove and install just as the stock plugs were installed. IIRC, those threaded tips are to fit different applications. Also, when putting a dab of anti-seize on the plug threads, don't make the mistake of putting to much which might end up on the sparky end and cause mis-fires.

Thanks for the feedback. I wonder, however, if the anti-seize compound is really necessary on the NGK plugs. NGK claims that the plugs are built with a tri-metal plating (I'm assuming also on the steel threaded part) that should prevent corrosion and seizing: https://www.ngksparkp...s/iridiumix.asp

I'll probably end up putting some on anyway...

Anti-seize is recommended to help prevent cold welding of dissimilar metals. Aluminum heads are pricey to replace and most maintenance techs swear by it. FWIW.

But.... He did read it on the interweb so by golly I'd say he don't need it..

Use anti seize man. A few cents spent now is worth the peace of mind, and a really rotten job removing the head if the interweb info is wrong..

Just did my plugs (iridiums) this morning-those tips must be removed. I always use Never-Sieze on plugs.
