I hope these things are THAT good.
It's probably unnecessary to say this, but I won't let that stop me ;) Trust the plug gap right out of the box, do not, do not use a plug gauge to check them. The center electrode is both small and fragile and most gapping tools will readily break your big bucks plugs. Just because a few people have checked the gap and gotten away with it is not validation for most people to go ahead and gap the plugs. Part of what makes these plugs a CR8EIX and not some other number is the plug gap, which is exactly right for the FJR.

Don't set your expectations too high. Better longevity...that's about it. You're STILL not gonna outrun that damn Hayabusa livin' next door. :p
****, I didnt buy this bike to out run the idiots on the 'busa's and the rest of the silly crotchrockets. I got it because I do LONG rides, I camp, and I ride every single day. Another GS is simply too $$$, and a nice comfortable, reliable, inexpensive sport touring bike made sense to me.

But, twisting the trottle in any gear and getting up to speed in no time at all IS nice. I'll admit that. :good:

Are we talking about the same thing???

I thought you were referring to iridium plug being "THAT good". I'm saying don't expect anything more than extended plug change intervals out of iridiums. Any performance or MPG improvements you experience will simply be the result of placebomus-delusionalis, a very common mental aberration usually brought about by the sufferer's making poor money-spending decisions. :p

Dont worry, Im sure I wont have any sort of issue. I'll just be happy to have this bike running smoothly FINALLY so I can get out and have some fun on it. Either the plugs are going out, or this bike is running to rich. Plugs and PCIII get installed this weekend.

use some "never seize" on the plug threads to prevent the steel from welding into the head's aluminum threads -> good insurance to prevent this

also, I use some dielectric (bulb) silicon grease on the insides of the plug wires boots for easy removal in the future

YMMV

As I heard a Concours owner say in response to a GSXR comment "OK I'll race you - to Duluth and back". Which got a reply in shocking language just shocking I tell you :yahoo:

Mechanic couldnt get them. Local high end hot rod shop could not get them.
I decided to support my local shop for these. $11 each. :angry2:

Should be here this week.

NEXT TIME THOUGH.....Imma order these in bulk and get enough for 2 more sets.

I hope these things are THAT good.

Unfortunately, on your wasted spark FJR1300, they are only 1/2 as good as you think: Here's why

So now you have to rotate your plugs every 16k miles instead of just replacing them.

Yeah, I know the manual says replace every 8k miles. I'm here to tell you, 16k even on standard CR8E plugs is absolutely no problem.

installed new Iridiums today...test rode the bike 100mi on the interstate

does the 1/4 in 9.8 and top speed exceeded 200...when I returned there was more fuel than when I started and the tread on the tires is thicker

I love my Iridiums !!! :yahoo:

<it's almost Friday here and probably is somewhere>

NOICE! Thanks for the heads up, mang

I got mine form Jeff Ashe for $20 and he changed them too. Didn't know it was such a deal. But then again, he's just a nice guy.

Hey Jeff, Galen, Denis and I are headed back down to the dragon this week. Maybe some trip will get back over to your side of NC.

If you guys are going to be around the Dragon area this coming Saturday, I will be close. Shoot me a PM and we'll attempt a ride.

And stop telling people how us dumb rednecks go the wrong way with our Canadian dollar conversions. I KNEW I didn't charge you enough!!! Bet you guys laughed about that one all the way back to the snow.

:)
