She runs!!!!
It's been many a long night with this Too good to be true" priced scoot but yep she's a running strong!
Fun stuff I've done so far.
Starter? toast... Fuel?? Some type of strange mix of water, gunk, and amoebas i suspect.. Battery? shot. Carbs? see above. Rear wheel brake caliper? froze up..
Crank case was somehow a mix of 2 gallons of fuel an oil. This may not bode well for the stator as it's location is in the crank case were oil keeps it cool.
Anyway, I turned the armature in the starter and fixed all issues with that. Drained fuel tank of Tom, Bungie, and Rob...Removed and cleaned carbs, rebuilt caliper, flushed crank case, 3 times, twice with used oil from recent changes as it was foolish to dump 2 gallons out after such a short time running. Flushed brake and clutch fluids, rotated the air in the tires .. and just gave it a complete going over.
Not going to worry about the stator as if and when it fails I'm going the automotive route. easy and cheap repair vs the factory unit.
40 degrees and pissing rain today but it was time to see what I have here.
Gotta say I'm impressed.. decent power and brakes, good weather protection, primo ride comfort and just a damned nice ride for an old mold wing..
So much so that, after tossing it around for several months the feejer is being listed for sale. Not sure If I'll keep this wing or upgrade down the road but it just feels like the time for me to travel at a more sedate pace.
No I ain't leaving Too much fun being an Odot here.
