Isn't it about time we got to ride on some of the better roads South of Sonora? La Grange Rd., Hornitos Rd., lunch in Mariposa, Hwy 49 from Mariposa to Coulterville and Sonora. HooooYaahhhh. :yahoo:

Skyway and I were talking about this run during the ride home from the Occidental trip. Now is the time. :D Look for details as Skyway has already pre-ridden the route and will be posting and maintaining the "semi-official list".

Meet @ Jamestown Chevron @ 0830, gas tanks full and kickstands up @ 0900. Yeah, baby!

Sssshhhhhh! Don't anyone tell Highlander, it'd just make him feel worse , missing Occidental and now this ride, too. Dang, drat, heck, *** and pshaw!

Sounds like another good time ahead on the road again with some of them there nice people on an FJR.

Count me in weekend rider. All that is needed date & time will keep watching for infromation. :cownoy:

The Date: Cleverly hidden in the sub-title ;) (Sat., April 8th)

Time and Place: Deceptively included in the last paragraph of the posting. (Jamestown Chevron, 0830...kickstands up @ 0900)

:D

Now, more details, etc., to follow if Skyway posts.

Hmmmm -- I have an annual corporate shareholders and directors meeting in Grass Valley on Friday, the 7th. What do you think the chances are of it (1) being nice enough to ride the bike over the hill and stay at my Mom's in Auburn Friday night and (2) being able to haul all I need to haul for the meeting, plus clothes, on the bike?

I know 88 is likely to be open for the Saturday afternoon ride back to Nevada, so I'm hoping I get to make this one. Just got the Wilbers rear shock, the Cox radiator guard, the sliders and a new rear Stone on the bike. Need to ride it instead of working on it. More work to be done between now and then.

Crossing my fingers that we'll actually see a spring this year.

Here's what the route looks like.

JamestowntoCoultervilleApril8.jpg

The plan is to meet at the Jamestown Chevron at 8.30am, ready to leave at 9.00am. If anyone wants to arrive early for breakfast say 7.30am, theres a really good place across the highway called Woods Creek Cafe.

We will be going west on 108 to J59

J59 to Hwy132 La Grange

Hwy132 to Merced Falls Road

Merced Falls Road to J16 Hornitos Road (destination Hornitos)

Hornitos to Bear Valley Road (destination Bear Valley & Hwy49)

Hwy49 South to Mariposa for lunch at approx. 11.45

Lunch is planned at the Red Fox Restaurant in Mariposa. I have made space for the group and will firm up everything the week prior to the ride.

After lunch we head north on Hwy49 to Coulterville. If you guys want to do more riding at this point, we will continue north to Hwy120 and run Priest Grade to Groveland and then loop back via Greeley Hill on Hwy 132 to Coulterville. This portion of the route is shown on the map, and will be left as an option for now.

Total time for this ride including luch and stops and BS'ing should be around 4-5 hours, not including the Priest Grade option.

:( Damn, can't make that one. Duty calls. Besides, Eve won't even do Hwy 49 in a car. You guys tear it up! But I don't wanna hear about anybody taking the dropoff. Do not run wide! Bad things, man, bad things.

Sacka-frakum, bunch of no good, dirty, claim jumpin', no account so and sos!
You no likey the route? Shocking! Fast sweepers on quiet backroads below Hwy49, rolling green foothills, Bear Valley Rd, yummy lunch, New Priest Grade..........

This is a good opportunity for you to re-ride the part you had to skip recently due to rain?

I'm thinking for this run to make it a little more interesting and as an incentive for the rider who travels the furthest will get a free lunch. No abusing of the menu and my wallet allowed. :D

TWN totally deserved this for the last run, especially since the weather hit the crapper the day before. ;)

I will determine who this is from outside the restaurant in Mariposa. Whatever lies my GPS spit out at me will be the final word. No fake addresses, got it.

That's the problem! Me likey the route TDM! If I did another ride this soon after the Occidental ride, I'd never get my balls back from the fire safe bolted in the left side nightstand... Mrs. Nut would really then be, Mrs. Nut! My honey-do list has grown to a honey-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-til-I'm-dead-list... :(

Maybe I can use the old,"Hey, lookit, Honey! Izzat Haley's Comet?", and the book for three days while she's lookin' for it... Hmmmm. :haha:

I couldn't even qualify for a free lunch, since I'm probably only about a hundred miles or so from Sonora. How bout for who spent the most getting there? I could call in sick for about a $200 net loss, that should get me in the (lunch) money, as long as nobody wrecks on the way in.

Please be careful down there. I rode down from Shingle Springs to Knights Ferry last Wednesday and when you go south of Sonora they use that black pumice stuff on the snow covered roads. Once the snow is gone that black stuff is like riding on marbles. I'll be in Vegas for my fathers 80th B-day, otherwise I'd join the ride.

**** -- looks like I'm out. Another commitment Saturday that I can't rearange. I really want to ride that area. Oh well, warmer weather is coming.

Even though it's not on your route, your discussion of lunch reminded me that A&S BMW in Roseville is have an open house on the 8th. Why lunch? In addition to test rides, a bike show and free drawings for prizes, they also always have a catered bunch of food there for anyone that shows.

I think it would be cool to show up with a whole collection of FJR's and take over the ogling factor from the new beemers! :bleh:

We dropped in on a friend at A&S open house last year. We were in a car, hungry, and between errands

There was only one FJR there -- hidden among all the BMWubbelyoos.

It was a joy to behold :D
