I'm assuming we are keeping an eye on the weather reports.  One place says "rain", Yahoo says rain on Fri, cloudy on Sat, rain on Sun.  This should be an interesting way to scrub in the new Pirelli Stradas.
Lately the weather has been a little odd for this time of year. I will be checking closely around Wednesday.

MM2; Ihope your ride is still on? The weather has been a little iffy, been looking forward to another adventurous ride. Pick your meeting place and time and like M Jackson would say, "I'll be there"

You pick any road(s) that are ridable and they will come.

weekend rider :D

I'm thinking of changing the first part of the route. Instead of running Hwy108 to J59 to La Grange, we will instead go Hwy 120 to Hwy49 in Coulterville. Then run west on Hwy132 into La Grange, turn right on J59 and turn right on Bonds Flat Road past the dam at Lake Don Pedro.

Only because the views right now are just so purdy.

Skyway, you are the "BigDog" on this one. Whatever you think is best works for me!

So the route change will be 149 South from Sonora, R on 132 to LaGrange, RE on LaGrange Rd, R. on Bonds Flat, L on 132, R on Merced Falls? Okie-Dokie.

Looks like I can make it! I misread the original post thinking it was this weekend.

Mike I'll get your map back to you then, it came in handy...thanks.

Hoping to do a little suspension tuning on this run which should be fun. ;)

For those in the Sacramento area, Bluestreeks, WeekendRider and myself are having breakfast @ Dennys on Elk Grove Blvd (about 3/4 mile East of Hwy 99) @ 0530-0545.

Kickstands up, heading to Jamestown @ 0630-0645.

From Dennys, 99 South to Stockton, Farmington Rd. (Hwy 4) East to Copperopolis, R on O'Byrnes Ferry Rd., L on Hwy 108 to Jamestown. Approx 84 miles.

Well, TWN, since we don't live in lovely Santa Barbara and have all the perfect riding weather, we will just have to "make do" with the opportunities we are given. :p

Too bad you can't make this one, too.

It looks like the current storm system thats upon us should move through by Wednesday. I'm guessing we'll see a cloudy sky but no rain for next weekend.

Just curious what the weather and cal trans have done to the roads and their surfaces? For instance, how much sand, salt, slim, small land slides that have not slid yet anf what ever else could pose a problem for bikes and their riders.

After all with some information like this it would sure help as to get some idea as to what we need to prepare for riding conditions. I do not expect to have perfect conditions but at least be aware of some of the hazards that lurk around the corner..

I hope for clear weather and lots of good riding............ :dribble:

I've ridden the route and surrounding areas twice in the last week. There are a couple of sandy spots and crappy asphalt that I will make everyone aware of before we depart on Saturday. 99% of the route is just perfect for a good days riding.

This evening has brought some heavy rain in the Foothills, but I am still confident that the worst will pass in time for the ride.

When I was up two weeks ago, the 'crap' used for snowy roads (granite dust?) was all off to the side of the roads or on the centerline. Intersections were spooky as were downwash areas, but otherwise, the roads were great! This rain will do a lot to wash away the rest of the crud - just watch the blind corners for runoff debris.

All this waiting is really getting to me. I know  I'll blame it on the time change. Completly forgot to participate in that ritual. Which reminds me I should probably do that before I forget, again. :bleh: . Done, well the alarm clock is right. Thats all I need for Saturday.

Anyone mind a Beeemer rider tagging along? Assuming he can make it thriough his honey-do list.

later.

Hey if they're letting a crazy Arizonan join in, I'm sure they'll make room for a 'non' FJR to join. Of course I too am just a guest in this ride, so I have no say at all. :D

I believe the ride is open to anyone who wants to show up, regardless of what bike.

I'm hoping Mrs OrangevaleFJR would be along to snap some of the awesome views that Saturday will offer? B)

The more the merrier. While we are a good looking bunch, that doesn't mean we have to be snobs.

Is everyone keeping an "eye" on the forecast? Now a possibility of showers in the morning......

Right now we are getting HEAVY rain in the Mother Lode, and for now the option of Priest Grade is off limits as Hwy 120 is shut down due to a culvert giving out. Estimates of several weeks to repair are being reported.

I still think Saturday will be ok for riding, though Friday may bring some showers to the area.

I just talked to her. We are tentative at this point. That means probably because we missed Occidental and that was a bummer!

I thought that meant that your were camping?

Isn't the BMW rider the same gent that was on the Occidental ride? Nice guy, just don't make fun of his bike not being able to keep up, tho! :D
