Any idea where that was filmed? It looks like a simple even radius on the curve. +1 on the slick spot in the road.

It seems there might be a reason the film crew is there. Did "they" or whoever asked/hired the have anything to do with it?

Overall, it is too suspicious. One guy tucked the front end and he wasn't pushing it that hard. The last guy "saved it" but what caused his rear tire to step out?

I'd like to know more about the who and why. :angry:

This is up the hill from the Rock Store and from the insides of the curves the photographers can shoot bikes most of the way up or down. Fantastic roads to ride, but after some wind they get a thin film of sand. Plus LOTS of squids and people riding over their abilities.

I'm with Walter on this one. Dust blown onto the roadway can cause havoc. I have a corner near me that this happens on. Some days it's sticky other days it's just like ice. A little dust goies a long way.

Yeah, that guy who went over the rail was not leaning very hard. I wonder if he saw whatever was on the road and tried to stand the bike up.

I also wonder why the camera folks didn't try to warn people of the conditions.

Clearly loss of traction due to sand/dust on the road. It happens a lot on roads with sandy shoulders and windy conditions, experienced the same in Greece last May and I would have been down had I've been riding faster.

All bikes in this video clip came in way too fast for the condition they were facing.

Most of the others look like more or less bona fide lowsides but grumpy's right about the first guy. Squid.

He clearly just drove off the road as you CAN see in the slomo replay that he crapped his pants and stomped on his brake pedal (the rear rim stops and the tire smoke follows)

That curve is actually called "squid corner" and it gets a LOT of camera guys trying to get shots of bikes leaned down to the feelers. They'll be both inside and outside the curve. Note the camera carried by the one guy who runs up. Everybody knows the riders are under scrutiny on this section and there's a lot of ego among the young warrior set. That's also why the CHP watches this area a lot and has zero tolerance.

The first guy who went over the barrier definitely locked the rear and had the bike standing up. Agreed that he screwed up and paid for it. But what we can't see is if he was braking because he came in hot, some ******* just ran across the corner to get better photos, or there was something else just out of our frame. No excuses for him, just saying that we don't know the whole story.

Note the black rubber marks on the pavement, as you can read a lot about attitude from them. I love riding the area, but it sure was better 30 years ago before all the housing that's been built.

Very interesting. it makes you wonder how in MotoGP they can do it and not crash. But , they know how use the throttle and brakes. I did it once at a track years ago in a class tryin to learn to trail brake and I screwed it up. In my case Code's guy told me I had hit the front brake too hard , shifted too much weight forward and the rear washed out. he said if I had stayed on the throttle harder I would have been OK most likely. I had cut the throttle, and that was all she wrote. I was glad I was learning on a track .

I quit riding around The Rock Store about 25 years ago and don't miss it. Too many LEOs & squids around there and too many better roads in SoCal.

Yep, the first guy did the classic cruiser-I-had-to-ly-'er-down-stop...

Several of them had riders in front of them who made the corner. Skill/braking? Bike? Tires? Different track/traction?

Nice curves in that video but damn, the road surface looks as bad as up here in New England. :blink:
