Ooh! I forgot I had that shot... Good time to check tire pressures and make sure everything is cinched down good and tight. ;)

Did I already say, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

So how long does that road go on??

wow, that's quite a picture.

Maybe I should bring the Lear...

I think that particular stretch is either 17 or 22 miles, I can't remember which. Let's just say that you don't need the entire length to, um, get up to speed.

Interesting side note to that picture, shortly after I got going, one of them twin tail jets (F15 or 18?) apparently used me for some target practise (I'm guessing), flew overhead at about 100 yards, pulled up and right and came 'round about 200 yards off my starboard side, gave me a wing wag, then blasted back toward Nellis. Pretty cool.

If WFO-6 needs another lens to help with pictures, I'm available. I'm a part time pro (second career) and can bring the requisite gear. Did so on my recent 8k mile junket. Thus far I've been one of the few pro gear dudes on two wheels. ;-) :shades:

Why thank you, sir. I shall keep that in mind. ;)

If one feels so inclined for a diversion hang a right and you're going down 375.....aka The Extraterrestrial Highway......even more of a road built for FJR nominal speeds.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Yea, looks like even I could get the FJR up to 85 or 90 on that road!

I done that road this year at the Vegas Bike fest. I even got a tshirt from the AleInn and had a AleInn Burger too

This photo illustrates a subtle, but important point that distinguishes Nevada straights from any other I've experienced.

From this photo vantage point there's probably about 12 miles or so of dead straight in front of you. You'll notice that you can pretty much see every bit of road from here to there. It's like a super-subtle parabola. And it's the same way the 4 or 5 miles behind the vantage point.

When you come up over the hill you can see every single car maintain sight of them the whole distance. And, if you can see cars for a long ways you can make out Nevada's finest much more easily. It's utilizing plate tecntonics to the FJR's advantage!

Yea, looks like even I could get the FJR up to 85 or 90 on that road!
I only 90 twice myself on that stretch of road!

......once I accelerated through it.........and once as I decelerated.

.
I clocked a portion of it as 21 miles. Picked myself a marker as far as my eye could see, then another marker after that ----------- straight and true :) I didn't get many mpg until I gassed up at Rachel :D

It's cool to watch an approaching, shimmering dot transform itself into a vehicle.

You got it! Perhaps we should negotiate a division of labor so neither one of us is taking pics when we'd rather be doing something else. That's the downside of event photography. I wouldn't mind trying some action shots (haven't done much of that). I might be able to loan you some gear too. What kind of body are you using???

Nice party, Scooter, Uh, who's the girl? I mean.. your date.. oh boy, You southern guys sure have high standards!

Park City is a really nice place. I was last there about 3 years ago. Big tourist town!!!!! wifey brought back tons of crap.........bunch of little goofey looking moose figurines......what ever floats your boat....... You guys will have a great time there......green w/envy. Just don't stop and try to make a u-turn on the side of one of those mountains..........trust me on this one :black eye:
Also "green w/envy". I've been to the last two EOM's, but am afraid if I took the time to make this one, all my stuff would be in the driveway, if ya know what I mean. I'm guessing about 2700 miles each way from Maine.

I could DO it. Just want to promote tranquility in the family. Hey Geezer, I see you have a morbid interest in making the long trip. Wanna twist my arm?
You could pick me up in Rhode Island on your way by... :D
