Multi-day in 2007?

Nope. Only on "off" years of the Iron Butt Rally.

I'm already working on the 2008 7-day rally, and next year will either be in CO or UT, and be 24-hour.

GZ

YEAH! Am I glad you picked Utah. Den Mother still has an "unpaid" speeding ticket from a trap in Colorado. At least I won't have to worry about bailing her out if she gets another performance award at this WFO! :D

Only 250 days to go!!! :yahoo:

or 6007 hours!!

or 360447 minutes! :dribble:

ok, yeah its a slow day at the office. :p

Should we start a pool? How many pages will this thread have by July 26, 2007?

You gonna ride this year? A lot closer than Reno.
hell yeah i'm riding. distance wasn't exactly the issue last year. I couldn't afford to have the bike ready in time but there were some other reasons too. now, i'm ready! so assuming there's no issue with the time off i've requested, i'll be there on my 2 wheels.

Park City is a really nice place. I was last there about 3 years ago. Big tourist town!!!!! wifey brought back tons of crap.........bunch of little goofey looking moose figurines......what ever floats your boat....... You guys will have a great time there......green w/envy. Just don't stop and try to make a u-turn on the side of one of those mountains..........trust me on this one :black eye:
Also "green w/envy". I've been to the last two EOM's, but am afraid if I took the time to make this one, all my stuff would be in the driveway, if ya know what I mean. I'm guessing about 2700 miles each way from Maine.

I could DO it. Just want to promote tranquility in the family. Hey Geezer, I see you have a morbid interest in making the long trip. Wanna twist my arm?

I'm hoping to make this one. I have to wait until January to find out when our Annual Summer convention that I go to will be. The week-ends vary from year to year. But if it isn't on that week-end count me in. My wife already knows I want to go out to Salt Lake City and ride with a cousin of mine. So I have a reason to go anyway. For me it's just going to be if my week-ends line up right.

I think a SS1K or a BBG is a far stretch as I live less than 2 miles from the venue  :angry2:  :angry2:

But, I'm less than 2 miles from the venue! :clapping: :D :) :p  :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

All the LD events will begin at the venue. You'll be the freshest rider there. I would think that would be an advantage. I'll be coming from 800 miles away, and not interested in adding an extra thousand or 1500+ to the trip.
Hopefully, you and/or some of the other locals will plan some cool twisty day rides.

Does anybody know about the condition of Hwy 6 through Nevada? I 'd really rather not slab it all the way there and 6 looks like a good way to avoid I-80 or 15.

I'll probably leave at dark to avoid the desert-like heat of my area and most of the terrain on the way there. Just when I thought it was safe to dump the PHID's...

US6 is a great highway! Well maintained, incredibly scenic, very little traffic, and not a lot of radar either. I think it makes US50 look busy. It's mostly long & straight, but there are a few fun sections that will have you looking forward to the trip home.

You'd be well advised to ride across 6 in the daytime, regardless of heat. That's mostly open range, and there are lots of critters... coyotes, bunnies, deer, elk, cows, even wild ponies.

To my knowledge, there is no gas in the 170 mile stretch between Tonopah & Ely (pronounced e-lee), so you'll wanna top off in Tonopah.

To me, US6 is one of Nevada's best kept secrets, so don't tell anyone ok?

Well, it should be no worse than the Yosemite Game Sanctuary that I must also negotiate to make it a fairly straight shot to & from my place. The element of danger will keep my speed reasonable and give me more reasons to stay alert & awake. Might even get some good pictures of critters in the headlights!

My lips are sealed. B)

I will concur 100%. Wickedly fun, straight, little traffic, and easy to spot oncoming LEO's. I only rode the Tonopah to Warm Spring stretch 7 times one day last July doing a little 2000+ mile ride. Watch for coppers in Tonopah and a few miles out of town until you're clear of the airport on the right.

Warm Springs does NOT exist. Some old abandoned buildings, but there isn't gas until Ely.

If one feels so inclined for a diversion hang a right and you're going down 375.....aka The Extraterrestrial Highway......even more of a road built for FJR nominal speeds.

Long distance riding AFTER I arrive in Utah from NJ (via Wisconsin/BMW MOA)? Yikes? I'll do some twisties, but call it a reasonable day and park my titanium butt in the bar with anyone willing to join me...

:drinks:

I saw a few roads close to that in South and North Dakota this past summer but that is one long stretch of highway. And much less traffic.

Ooh! I forgot I had that shot... Good time to check tire pressures and make sure everything is cinched down good and tight. ;)

Wow, I've been off the Forum for 11 days and I return to see this! The other 16 pages of new posts I have available to view will pale in comparison to this latest WFO news. Simply outstanding!! :yahoo:

Had a blast in Reno. Thanks to the organizers for the anticipation already brewing here. Can't wait!
