C and I are in, but what if we have more than 20 people? We gonna kick the late comers out? Not bitching, just wondering if we shouldn't look for another place. Maybe get interest first.
Silver City is big enough that it should have a good selection of restaurants.

Friday night's dining reservations have been made for 6 pm at Adobe Springs Cafe for a group of 20 in one room and a spill over group in an adjoining room with a partition divider.

Check out the menu here https://www.adobespringscafe.com/menu/

They said they will take pre-orders if you want to call ahead for dinner.

They do serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Thanks Don! Currently roasting my buns off in the Sahara, looking forward to the cool of Emory Pass. Is the road there trashed and full of gravel?

BwanaDik, here is what the New Mexico Bicycle Club recently wrote:

The Emory Pass Climb in southwest New Mexico is a strenuous but beautiful ride. You can stay in Silver City and drive an hour to Kingston and have someone drop you off there. Have low gears since there is a steep, steady climb of 8 miles from Kingston to Emory Pass. Then there are the sweeping turns downhill to NM61 at San Lorenzo. From there there are rolling hills into Silver City. The climb out of Kingston begins with several miles at 5% but levels off. The traffic is light and the road surface is good though no shoulders. The views are awesome. The descent through the ponderosa forest is wonderful. The lookout at Emory Pass is worth a short detour. The descent west goes through Gallenas canyon which has dramatic rock formations. Bicycling Magazine has written up the ride as one of the great climbs in the country in a past issue. The remainder of the ride into Silver City are large rolling hills. There is a great view of the Hurley open-pit mine and the Kneeling Nun rock formation along the way. The road from Hillsboro to Kingston goes through Percha canyon which has dramatic rock formations.

Getting There: Take I-25 south from Albuquerque or north from Las Cruces to NM152 at exit 63. Drive west to Hillsboro or Kingston. Begin in Hillsboro or Kingston and end in Sliver City (54 miles) or get someone to pick you up at the intersection of NM152 & NM61 (30 miles).

Distance: Hillsboro to Silver City, 54 miles, 5500 ft. gain.

Roadway: NM152 from Hillsboro to NM35 is 2 lane with good surface with no shoulders and almost no traffic. NM152 from NM35 to US180 is divided 4-lane with shoulders, usually rideable with light traffic. US180 is divided 4 lanes with rideable shoulders and moderate traffic.

just bought the Zumo 590LM with TPMS. should be a good test for it on this trip.
I will be hitting you up for a review next week in SC. I was close to ordering one yesterday to try to have it here before next Wednesday's departure but then I looked at my check book. Ouch! The Old Nuvi 550 will have to keep working for me for a little while longer.

Nice job Ed. Way to take that on. You've done such a great job, I want to reward you with a warm Hot & Opened can of Coors Light with full of butts with your name on it for all of your hard work with my gratitude!

Offering piss water is your way of showing gratitude? We must has a talk.
Don't fall for it Ed, you'd be better off sholving that can of Coors up AJ's arse. You do know that Coors is now made by the Canucks and they add Salt-Peter to it.

Papa Chuy Viejo has the kind of GPS that folds up and fits in your pocket and normally sells for as little as a few bucks!

I wish I was on my way there to join you guys. That is one of the few areas of the country that I have not explored. I hope all goes very well so that you are tempted to have the rally in the same place next year.

I wonder how the shirt guy is going to spell Silver City.

I prefer the GPS made from trees unless I have to navigate big cities at rush hour, then the non-tree version is good to have.

At least that gives it some flavor.....

I am so looking forward to this trip. Its been a while, I must be going through withdraw. Maybe after this ride, I can kick the Peyote and come back down to earth! Living in the desert can do funny things to a person. Not much more than rattlesnakes and peyote to keep one entertained.

I started a group called SWFOG on "Life360" which is a phone based GPS app that shows where everyone is. Please PM. Your email and phone # and I will invite you in.

It works with all smartphones with a free download from the app store. Www.life360.com
