I am getting really tired of spilled oil in the back of the truck from crappy oil pans.
I used to have a pan much like this one:
The problem with this pan was there was a lot of surface area where the oil would drain and take it's time going into the container. After I would put the white cap on there would always be oil slowing moving from the surface to the top of the cap. In addition, it would find it ways to the spill spout and drip out while in my truck when the truck was in motion, to go drop the used oil off. I also hated having to wipe all the oil from the tops and sides of the oil pan. I was using 4-5 shop rags just trying to keep the oil contained. So, I went to this pan:
The idea of this pan is great. There was a large lid to cover any area that the oil came in contact with. However, this thing sucks. The top lid has ZERO ability to contain the oil. While in the truck if the oil moved or splashed on the lid the oil would run down and out of the lid threads and into the bed of my truck.
I could move to putting the oil back into the oil containers I empty. But, then I would still have a problem with a oil pan with oil all over it. This is a problem for me since I do not have a garage and store the tools and stuff in the back of my truck.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good quality oil pan that does not leak or leave oil over a larger surface area?
Thank you,
