Still no new battery....still using the "charge at night/drive in the day" mode of electron conservation.

STILL haven't ordered a new one yet. ******* I'm a procrastinator, but in all honest, late in the week is my busiest time, and still have to work Saturday and Sunday.

Don't know WHEN I'm gonna get this sorted and behind me.

Just a word of advice to all.....don't ever let BeemerDons get behind YOU! (or drop the soap when he's around)

OM, while I AM a broke mofo, it ain't the money...it's I'm a serious putter-offer. Never do ANYTHING today that I can put off for a week or two. That's probably why I haven't washed Frankenbike since November 2009.

But I WON'T be putting it off until Christmas...not being able to stop during a ride, unless I find a few-and-far-between hill in Flatlandistan, I can only go from point A to point B and not shut it off. REALLY cuts down on the Fast Food and Dairy Queen stops.

Pull into the station, leave 'er running, light a cigarette and fill that puppy up. Some things just can't be put off, like a good smoke.

Good call Alan!

I might also suggest since his battery may be so low as to not allow the fuel gauge to function, and being it's dark inside the tank he should check the level while holding his lighter above the filler neck.

No sense wasting other battery lives ya know.

Ahhh, that was downright MEAN, Mr. BeemerDons..

Old 'Owie just marches to a different drummer, that's all.

.. hey 'Owie, wanna see a pix of the superior gen 2 2006 battery that's still working great for starting the riding Sears and Craftsmen lawnmower?

Someday, I gonna ride to FloriDuh and shake 'Owies hand. That doode is a one-off-never-again-to-be-made character.

Kind of like his battery.

Lordie Lord...damn I'm glad I lost that 60 pounds of extra tubbo!

You oughta try it, Papa Chuy. :finger:

Oh...and bought a new battery today. Was doing a "remote" broadcast at an O'Reilly's auto parts store and the manager cut me a $20 savings deal on a new 220CCA AGM no-maintenance unit. Unfortunately, when I got it home, found it to be the same size as my ZRX battery, i.e., 3/8" too thick, but this time I was not to be deterred....

Pulled the battery tray out, after finding a 3/8 drive ratchet and 10mm socket. Trimmed off the lower lip so the battery would sit flat in the tray, bent the long hold-down arm a bit and put a longer hex bolt in the hold-down to make up for the extra width.

Hit the starter and the earth stalled for a moment. Didja feel it? It was about 8:35pm EDT...that little "stutter" in the earth's rotation was my bike firing up!

Now, let's see how long this no-name battery lasts. Wonder if I'll get 11 years out of it! :D

****. When I deleted all the quote, i couldn't get back to the post to speak my own words. So here:

You think Howie's cheap, that ***-munch on that '03 makes him look like a Vegas showboat throwing hundreds around the casino!
