Ok all you Old Diminion FJR Riders out there. We're gonna try a poll. Let's see if this works...

Holy Schnikeys! It looks like it worked!

reckon I should say I'm in the same boat tho' reversed...

I said Sunday, but am willing to do it Saturday if thats the majority vote.

Ok, we have five votes now. I'm assuming we have them from JimLor, PlaynGuiter and FJRgary. I haven't voted yet, so who are the other two? Please chime in and make yourself known! Luvtoride, was one of them yours?

Also, can anyone NOT do Sunday? I'm thinking if it's Sunday then PlaynGuitar can bring wifey and Jim will be bringing wifey too?

Cope

you've got my part right Cope,

if on Sunday -- Hooligan tags along,

if on Saturday -- she doesn't since she'll be working.

honestly, either way is OK by me.

fwiw -- if she does tag along, I think it will be riding her Magna equipped with Vance & Hines pipes which may be something to consider for those of you weary of enhanced exhaust notes.

Patrick

Geez Patrick - wife works at a BMW dealer, rides a hooligan bike, and is married to a guy with an FJR - how do you make it work?!!

I'm pretty sure Lorie will come along - guess I need to talk to her about it!

Sunday it is ladies and gentlemen. Mark your calendars!

Now, suggestions on the ride location (unless Skyline sounds good) and meet n greet place?

Cope

>>Geez Patrick - wife works at a BMW dealer, rides a hooligan bike, and is married to a guy with an FJR - how do you make it work?!!<<

rotflol!! sleight of hand I assure you, intricately crafted illusion!

as you can easily see I'm responsible for precious little of all this -- even the FJR purchase worked out because she worked at Colemans for a short time. Otherwise, it may have been a lot harder to realize that dream.

remember, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...

>>meet n greet place?<<

One possible meet n' greet is the Sheetz in Haymarket where I met Jim and Gary once before. Its at the intersection of Rt 15 & Rt 55. An easy staging spot anyway.

That is a good meeting place. I was there last Sat and there were tons of bikes of all sizes and shapes getting together there.

Agreed. Know the place well. Great meet place.

From there we could take 55 west to Warrenton via 17, then jump on 211 to head out to Front Royal - unless you guys know of a nicer/different route you'd like to take.

Hot dog - I love it when a plan comes together!

Patrick, were you out on the Feejer about 11:30 this morning? Rt 29 heading in to Gainesville? I was headed to my son's dentist in Warrenton and saw (what I think was) an '06 heading east (or south as it's called).

I wish...

I was on the feejer this morning heading down Rt 29,

but it was closer to 5:00 AM!

Usually leave home around 4:45 AM for work, try to head back the other way around 3 in the afternoon. A vain and foolish attempt to miss traffic...

Are you guys planning on riding Skyline? Hmmm, ok... you might want to talk to Gary about that decision.

Luvtoride, was one of them yours?

No... although I thought about it just to mess w/ ya'lls heads

Hello, all.

I'll try to make this ride, just to get to meet folks!

I know the Sheetz in question, know the roads under discussion, and have my annual pass for the Shenandoah NF in the tank bag. :)

Dave

yeh buddy, Skyline can be nasty crowded and down right slow...

a weekday is prolly the best time for that run.

but, there are definitely other alternatives.

and that staging point leaves other options open.

Cute. Good point about Skyline too.

Ok, let's play the route by ear. What time say everyone?

No Skyline Drive for me. I rode that last Sat with Tom Bickerstaff (tstaff) and his group from Ohio. First off, we almost ran into a deer that was standing right on edge of the roadway around a blind right hander, and then when we pulled off at a overlook, a park ranger pulled in behind us and "Ranger Rick" gave us a little lecture about the 35 mph speed limit. Seems he didn't want us hurting any of their deer and bears

Anyway it took over 3 hours to get from Front Royal to Waynesboro to meet Heidi, and my FJR just doesn't like to ride that slow :( There's plently of other good roads besides Skyline Drive

Yikes... its really gotten bad then. I completely agree -- we can find something else that will fit the bill. As has been said -- there are lots of options. One of Jim's Civil War rides (for lunch), or a hop over to Harpers Ferry or some other part of WV (for lunch), or a run to Colonial Beach (for lunch), or down 211 to 231 to 29 to 33 and then across 33 (yeh -- lunch somehwere), or into PA (hmm, what about lunch).

Any ideas Jim and Gary? Others?

As far as a meeting time... early morning is always fine by me.

Is 9 or 9:30 too early at the Sheetz?

whaddya think citizen Cope?

C Cope says my rugrats get my lazy butt outta bed every morning by 6-ish anyway, so 9am is a no-painer. I like all your options too, especially those involving lunch. I went down 33 way a couple weeks back, but north to P A sounds pretty cool. I was up near Westminster, MD the other day buying my new pup (see pic) and there were some nice back roads/twisties up there. WV has some really great backroads though too.

I'm easy.
