Umm, guys, I really think you ought to meet at the Sheetz at 9:00 as previously agreed/stated. Unless the information has been changed, thats where it says you will meet on the board calendar. First, the sheetz station is easy to get to from major highways, and second, other riders may also be planning to attend based on the original plan. Oh, and count me in, too! :)
Patent1 - good to have you. You bring up a good point. Why don't we leave it at Sheetz at 9am, and if anyone wants to meet with JimLor at Caribou around 8am they can do that. JimLor, I will see you at Caribou. MUST. HAVE. COFFEE. NOW. Yes, I'm a junkie.

Sounds like a good plan. I could definitely use some java early Sun. morning at the Caribou. See 'ya there and then we can head over to the Sheetz.

Yeah, I didn't want to confuse the issue - I'll be at CC at ~0800 and I'll be taking a Sheetz at 0900.

Lorie is still mulling over whether or not to come - anyone else bringing their wife/girlfriend/opposite sex pillion?

My sweetie plans to ride, and we plan to be at CC. We will probably bail after lunch to avoid the higher temperatures in the afternoon.

For those who don't know where Caribou is - it's between Rt 29 and Rt 28 on Rt 619. It's the corner store in a Safeway strip mall.

You guys have room for two more riders? A friend and i were thinking of coming up from Richmond. That is if we can get on the road in time to be there by 9.

hey folks;

Hooligan and I had a blast! It was great meeting everyone yesterday -- wish we could have stayed around much longer, but we definitely enjoyed the first part of the ride. An awesome way to start the day.

Hope the rest was as nice as the first leg.

Thanks Gary for taking the lead yesterday -- ya done real good!

Hope to see you all again sometime soon.

best regards

Patrick

ps: I know I saw some cameras come out at the Shell station...

lets see those snaps!

Felt great to see that many FJRs in one place.

hey, mr. Cope... hope those ribs are doin' OK!

Bump. .

So how was the ride? I wish I could have made it, but I had to be out of town. I love driving and riding all through there. I think you were able to avoid the rain but I am wondering how it all went.

We had a good time. About 10 bikes total IIRC. 2 non-FJRs. Chris from Richmonds friend on a VFR and Patrick's wife Jan (Hooligan) on her Magna. We left Sheetz at about 9:30 and headed out 55 thru The Plains, then took 647 in to Flint Hill and 641 thru Washington, VA and stopped at the Shell station on 211 before Sperryville.

Patrick and Jan left from there for a previous obligation. The rest of us rode 211 over Thornton Gap and then had lunch at Brookside. After lunch everybody kind of went their separate ways. I took Chris (MSLPilot) and Mike (Powerman) on a ride of Fort Valley Rd and then into Front Royal. From Front Royal I took 340 up to 50W, then 601 over Mt. Weather and then home on Rt. 7.

Made some new friends and hope to do it again soon. See ya'll next week in Boone :yahoo:

Yes, a "spirited ride" Mr. Gary took Mike and I on after lunch. Ft. Valley Rd. was a hoot! That stretch was great fun and it felt good to "stretch my FJRs legs" a bit - and my ribs! Not too much traffic and we were able to really go at a good quip. I highly recommend that stretch of pavement. Thanks for the ride Gary.

Nice meeting everyone. I won't likely make it to EOM this year due to some other obligations, but if I get the chance I'll swing on over.

Heading to Cherokee, NC on Friday - everyone pray the weather stays decent for me! I DO NOT want to have to cage it!

Cheers all. Aviator, hope to see you out and about some time.

I am dying to ride with everyone local around here. I will be riding on Sunday (weather permitting) up in Woodbine, Union Bridge, Cunningham falls and where ever the winds takes us. Just couldnt join you last weekend. I have seen several FJR's on 270 and 495. Must be commuters likes me. Next time!! FO SHO.

I know not everyone likes Skyline Drive, but I have never done it on a motorcycle just a bicycle. Same goes for Blue Ridge. Add it to the list for us.

Where the heck are Woodbine, Union Bridge, Cunningham falls?

I actually don't mind the SLD that much and the one time Lorie and I were on the BRP was pretty nice - of course it was 99 degrees in the flatlands that day!
