Well, my total for the day was 391.2. Had a little rain on the way home, but other than that it was uneventful. I let Heidi ride my Rick Mayer seat for about 40 mi or so and I took her stock seat - holy fruitin' crap, after about 10 mi on the stock seat my can started hurtin', by mile 25 or so I was looking for a way to jump off the bike w/o leaving Lorie on her own. I don't need anymore confirmation that I made the right choice in dumping the stock seat!

Again, it was nice meeting everyone and the ride really was fun, beautiful scenary, nice pace, and good people. Hope to do it again soon.

BTW please post up your final milage totals ,, I am pretty sure that Heidi will be the long distance winner ,, yes ,, a girl ,, Heidi wanted me to say woman but girl sounds so much better when we rub it in to her friends out there on the Va coast ,,
I am looking forward to doing this again ,, in a few weeks ,, lets start the bidding on the next meeting spot ,, Natural Bridge ????  Roanoke ????  howz about a ride down to Shady Valley ?????

Hey Jeff, Joe & Jay... you see this???? Hahaha!!! (Look at that! 3 Skinny J's!) (Disclaimer... 3 Skinny J's are a local band... I was kidding around)

Anyway, I'm sure that these guys would've made it if there wasn't important things pressing. I know that Jeff was very envious that I was going to be in the mountains riding in such perfect weather.

My total mileage was 742 miles. I guess not bad for an up and back trip... [SIZE=14pt]FOR A GIRL![/SIZE]

The ride home kicked my ***, too. The wind... the wind never let up the whole ride home... & kicked my aging a$$.

A comment about the next trip... to keep it a 2 day trip I'd need to keep it in the state (touching into West VA. is ok, too) Shady Valley is better devoured as a 3 day trip for someone as far away as me. Roanoke is a few hours closer. The area that we were in is actually the closest for me... but I don't want to ride that same area continuously. I'd be more apt to go into the Roanoke area. And Rte 311... I love me some 311!

My vote would be to spend the night at a hotel on the fly while enroute... wherever the next meeting is desired. We could ride further if we don't need to complete a loop by afternoon's end.

I hope all of the out of staters & the guys who burned the miles so they didn't need to stay the night got home ok. Tim, let us know how everything went.

Hey All,

I had a great time. I have to echo the thoughts of many others. I never would have guessed that so many people would get along so well. When basically all that we had in common going in was the fact that we rode the same model motorcycle. The roads were fantastic, the pace was great and we had no "moments".

My milage total was 496.3. I arrived home at about 3 am. I stopped 2 times which during the day that never would have happened but late at night I stopped the moment that I started to get tired. I drank 2 Red Bull's at both stops and I was good to go.

The funniest part of the ride home was I kept seeing all of these bikes trailored, I would guess about 15-20 Harley's (or just cruiser types) in the back of trucks or on trailers. I could not figure it out. Then I remembered that Daytona ended on Saturday and it was all the squids heading home.

Again, thanks for a great time.

Shields, glad to hear that everything was alright when yopu stopped. It was definitley to hot for liners. It was the first day this year that I actually broke a sweat riding. A thermometer in Roanoke showed 81°F.

I also enjoyed the ride with you and David up to Waynesboro.

That weekend was a lot of fun and I am definitely up for another meet with all of you guys and gals.

Tim good to know you're trip went without hitches and you made it home OK.

David also glad to hear your sister will be OK.

I didn't reset my trip meters, but, I'm pretty sure I was somewhere in the neighborhood of 515 miles.

Great warmup for an IBA ride later this year. Anyone care to join me?

Mitch (or anyone else)...anytime you want to do an IBA ride, just let me know.

I agree that next time we should meet and then ride out on some pre determined loop ,, stay over in the middle ,, and then finish the loop the next day in time for splitting off and getting home ,, I am getting the Roads & Trips software next week and will do some route planning while I learn how to use it ,, and I would ask that several people do the same ,, post them and then do a poll to see where we would like to go next !!!! go next !! that sounds so nice !! some folks that would like to ride together again !!!!

I was also thinkin that we could do a group ride into EOM !!! the local dealer said they would sponsor a eat & drink stop here in Roanoke ,, it's a natural crossroads on the way south !! 220 , 460 , 81 (yuk) 221 , 24 , and the BRP are no more than 10 min from the dealership ,,

Oh man, you guys (and gal) are killing me. I'm really jealous - beautiful weather, great ride - ugh. My bad on etiquette for not advising sooner too, but I had no Internet access Friday. <_<

Auction my bike? Yeah, I probably deserve it. Kudos to you all for making the ride though. I'll catch up to everyone on the next go 'round.

You know Chris, we have enough folks in N VA to make a group ride worthwhile. While our roads may not be as scenic as those we rode last Sat, they still aren't bad. If I ride alone I usually leave the house NLT 0700 Sat AM so I can ride and still get back to spend time w/Lorie. If we ride together than time isn't as much a factor.

Agreed JimLor - the beautiful countryside is what brought me back here from AZ. Any riding is picturesque for me. I'm heading up to NYC this Sunday and taking my bike, so that'll be my first roadtrip of the year. Maybe next weekend we can get together for a day-long romp. My dad will probably like to join, but he's on a Gold Wing so we'll have to slow down a bit - ha, ha!

Kidding about dad, but if you want to try and hook up the 25th or 26th, let me know. If anyone else wants to join in, let's get it together.

Randy, actually there are a couple of N. VAs. VA from Fredericksburg to DC generally along the Rt 95 axis is considered "Northern VA" and actually is lucky enough to get to pay higher taxes for gasoline because we're considered part of that "N VA.!" This is separate from the geographic N, E, S, W Va. That said, I was talking about the geographic N. Va. I'd say we were in central/western Va last Sat. Not sure if I can make that any more confusing, but I can try if you like!

Sorry if I got any of the handles wrong... I'm going from memory here... which doesn't always serve me as well as it used to anymore.

Also, honest *****... this was the better of the two photos that the waitress took. I can see Randy's & Shield's eye in this one. By the way... I don't know what happened but the waitress picture never came back with the roll. Someone did take one of them, right?

I've got a couple more pics but won't see them until my next roll of film goes in.

I think JimLor confused you pretty well. Ha! But basically, south of DC to Fredricksburg. And then up around to the west of DC is considered Northern, VA (or as some locals call it - NOVA). Jim's right though - it just means we pay higher taxes.
