Rogdndeb : Ask your insurance man and see if you can back charge because it was not found and was part of your claim . The failure of the part was after the fact but still part of the problem . Insurance companies do it all the time. They did it on my truck when a tire blew an did over $2000.00in damage.
Good idea except I'm not with the same insurance company now. Service manager suggested something similar and is going to "check something out" for me in that respect -- hopefully.

Route Change: I rode the planned route yesterday. Coming down "Old Murphy's Grade" there were numerous tar snakes. I had the front "step out" a couple of times. In one particular place, there are 2 big blobs, about 1' in diameter, in the wheel track as you set up for the second "S" turn. Mega "oh-heck" on the ungood meter. (I went back up the road about 2 miles and rode back down....they are practically invisible in the afternoon sun. In fact, I hit them again @ 50mph.)

I'm thinking that will be toward the end of the festive day, in the heat, when everyone is looking forward to an ice cream break @ Calaveras, and there will be several w/pillion.

I am changing the route to: BYPASS MURPHYS, and riding down Hwy 4 to Hwy 49. Once we turn right on Hwy 49 there are, IIRC, 2 gas stations on the left, and we will be @ 200 miles at that point.

Safer is better! ;)

Mike,

Looks like I might be able to make this, just wondering though, anyone leaving from the Merced/Fresno area? Also, Skyway, is a meet point near Jamestown or Sonora planned? departure time?

Thanks,

John

What time do you expect to be at Kirkwood/Caples Lake? I'm coming from the other side, so I may just go over 88 west until I see a bunch of FJRs coming the other way. Make a U turn, ride with you guys, be there for lunch and continue with you all down to Bear Valley before reversing course and heading home. (2 times over the best part of Carson, Ebbetts and Monitor Passes makes for a fun day's ride.)

Well, it looks like we're going to wimp out and spend the weekend somewhere cool. Enjoy the ride.
Charles...... :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

Cooler than Ebbetts Pass? OF course the ride home from Angels Camp in 100 degree weather might be a bit intimidating. :dribble:

exskibum, expect an email.

Looks like I'm going to punk-out on this ride. ;)

I've been sitting on a jury for three weeks (heading into four) and I need to do some catchup around here.

The 110 high predicted for Jackson on Saturday is helping me be to responsible to my duties. I could melt making two trips across the that valley. :dribble:

Keep the rubber side down and the insides hydrated.

We thought aboout staying Saturday night up high and riding home early in the morning, but with the forecast for Arnold at 101 it'd have to be someplace really high. This is our anniversary weekend and I'm trying not to piss her off. Gotta do that once a year, ya know.

CAJW, you might see if Skyway will wait for you in Sonora/Jamestown....0600-0615.

MMII,

Got a last minute committment Saturday afternoon so I can't make the ride over the hill, but will ride up and have breakfast with ya'll @ Denny's in Jackson @ 7:00. Skyway has to head south due to his O Dark thirty departure to beat the desert heat so I'll be showing up solo. Somebody save me a seat near the coffee pot!

Okay, John. See you at Dennys.

fjrvtx1300, Jim, gonna join us? Heck, if there are only 3 of us we might just head to Mels.......

Mike, if you read this, check your PMs for my phone number.
