In the 12 years I've been driving and riding, I've been lucky on the bikes I've had... less so in my cars. I used to get pulled over all the time for either blatantly breaking the law or just stupid stuff cause the cops wanted to check me out.
Got pulled over on my CB250 because a cop thought I was 'racing' a pickup next to me. I didn't even know the truck was there! That Nighthawk thing can't race anything! He let me go, was only doing 50 in a 45.

Same bike, 45 in a 35 and got let go, said I was too busy concentrating on riding in the fog to look at my speedo.

Got pulled over twice on my Bandit 1200 for doing wheelies, once with a passenger. Got let go each time after a firm talking to. My buddy and I also got nailed and ticketed though on the highway together. Got nailed doing 90 in a 65 and he wrote it for 78 in a 65. Had to pay that one.

Have been pulled over twice on the FJR. Once was last spring doing 78 in a 65, told him I honestly wasn't paying attention and that I'm used to following traffic but the big highway bridge was empty so it was my mistake. He bought it and thanked me for being honest and let me go.

2nd time on the FJR was last summer after arriving here in TX, got pulled over doing 75 in a 70 (I know, seriously?), by an old state trooper coming the opposite way and he did a 180 to get me. He was cool and he just wanted to know what I did in the Air Force and let me go.

Oh, almost forgot I got charged with speeding and careless driving for crashing my Sabre. Went to court got the speeding dismissed and the careless reduced to inattentive driving. Insult to injury, I still hate the cops in the city. They charged me based on the accounts of a neighbor saying they 'heard something going really fast'. yeah... i was.

I honestly lost count of how many times I've been pulled over in my cars, but it's easily into the 50s. For just about everything except a DUI. Pretty clean record though, have had probably about 6-7 speeding tickets total, but have been pretty good for the last 4 years.
WOW -- that seals it! Admitting to getting let off that many times, you've outed yourself. Let me guess -- blond, blue eyes, killer body, eyes batting, soft innocent voice -- now we all know what you MUST BE -- a beautiful woman!! :D

Oh, and . . . ;)

Am I the only guy that gets pissed off that cops get freebies just because they have a badge?
Maybe some places. Maybe it's just how many different types of LEO we have around here in Disney North (DC). But if you aren't one of the type that pulled you over, or somebody that officer likely will work with and potentially have backing up his calls, the badge is MORE likely to get you a citation and no mark-downs.

Boy, that sounds fair too.

I'm merely looking to the moral compass.

I was playing hooligan in northern Cali ... Cop apologized but said he had to pull over what the spotter in the plane told him to. Pisses me off to this day....Last year ... I got one in my F150 in a speed trap on the Oregon coast -.

...Two months later ... The cop legitimately pulled me over ...

...Now I have to ride like a paw-paw so I don't get 3 in 12 months or bad things really happen.
Hey.

Shiny.

I've got an idea.

Why don't you OBEY the FREAKIN' law?!

(I knew you were a career criminal.)

... Oregon does suck ...
Amen, my friend.

Context isn't in your lexicon is it Kali boy? :D

So how many speeding tickets you had the past few years Mr. law-abiding-citizen? By State of course...

Mikey. Your hatred of authority is bubbling over and spilling on our table of brotherly love.

:D
I know I should turn the other cheek, but the nuns beat the concept out of me for 12 years. Then for four more years the Jesuits taught me to enjoy banging my head against a wall to obtain enlightenment. It's ingrained from my bubble head to my lead foot brother.

I have not had a ticket for anything in 15 years or more. But when I do, I usually get them in pairs within days of one another. After reading an article in my morning paper today about how states are raising fees and adding penalties, I hope no tickets come my way for some time. Many states are already charging a minimum of $500 for a rolling (California) stop while making a right turn.

These are but a few of the fuzz encounters I've had. I may come back later and add more ...and perhaps tell the full stories. two of these pics are not speeding, but rather fuzz encounters of a more serious nature -yes bike related.

Before you rush to judgement, I'll put my driving record up against anyone here. Yep, no moving violations ...but I've spent some time in court and a bunch more time negotiating with various district attorneys. Just the like the mob, the fuzz have their price. I hate the fuzzz, the biggest buzz-kill to moto-bike fun out there.

He prolly wouldn't have gotten written up if he hadn't told the officer "That's not the way we do it in California!" :)

Seriously, (while attending traffic school to keep the only citation that I've ever received on a motorcycle off my record) I finally got the answer from the officer running course as to why Oregon persists with the 55 speed limit. It seems that the Feds STILL hand out "55 money" and Oregon is determined to collect as much of it as they can.

Also, to (partially) answer the question of an earlier post, as of ~20 years ago, warning tickets in Washington State didn't go any farther than the paper they were written on, but the may have more computer space just waiting to be filled these days.

not likely, the oregon fuzz or the swineist of all swine.
John. while scrolling through your pictures I decided you just like to make friends and meet new people wherever you go!

I wish Oregon had traffic school. But that would detract from revenue collection for the insurance companies. Oregon has it's good points, but there are some strange attitudes about some subjects up here.

As for Oregon police. I know the local motor policeman who does the majority of traffic stops. He is univesally hated by the populace in his official capacity as black/white in thinking and rigid. But he also told me once while aiming a radar gun at the end of my street that he was told by his sargeant to ticket everybody above a certain speed without exception, because some local residents complained people were going too fast in the 25 residential zones here. He was having trouble handing out many tickets and gone in two days. It was to keep some old busy-bodies happy. What a waste.

RJ, I love your pictorial! By the way, was the photo of La Policia taken in Todos Santos? If so, I also got a 100 peso La Mordida there; riding without my helmet on!

Mick, Shiny is one of the Boston Irish! If they don't have a rap sheet as long as your arm: They won't let you into Faneuil Hall, Red Sox or New England Patriot games!

1) zero pa's on the fjr. Though I was tempted to speed past a known camera on my way home from the dealership to get it out of the way...

2) on other bikes - 3 'convictions', in other words, I just paid the fine (plead guilty) None were especially noteworthy - I think the 'worst' was 79 in a 65.

3) I received a ticket in York, PA for running a red light on my husband's bike. I was FURIOUS! I sat at a left turn lane with a dedicated signal thru 2 cycles of the light and decided that the sensor wasn't registering a bike and so 'ran' the light. The prick cop 'pulled me over' at a gas pump. lights a blaring and everything. Really? yep. I was so pissed that I took a day off of work to fight this absurd ticket. What a frigging waste of time. The judge obviously sided with me, but wasn't about to not back a police officer so he changed the charge to 'failure to obey a traffic control device' which carried the same fine but no points. The points didn't matter anyway, I lived out of state and the points wouldn't transfer. I was PISSED. But, such is life and I still hold a grudge against the entire state for that incident.

I am far more proud of the number of written warnings I have accumulated on motorcycles. Two of them were obtained in less than one hour. I'm more amazed than proud, really. I think I have a total of 6 written warnings. Two verbal. All on motorcycles.

Got popped in Rock Springs,Wy. on my way to Reno,Nv. for one of the WFOs. Only for 10 over (85 in a 75) as I was going around a semi, cost me 95 bucks. I still have the reciept from the Sweetwater Circuit Court pinned to the riding map on my bedroom wall. ;)
This was the EXACT location of one of my tickets! On my way home from Run What Ya Brung in 2008. Lone cop, VERY chilly morning. He let me sit in the front seat of his cruiser while he wrote me up. He was playing speed metal on the XM really loud in the car. Made an impression on me.
