I wish Oregon had traffic school. But that would detract from revenue collection for the insurance companies. Oregon has it's good points, but there are some strange attitudes about some subjects up here.
As for Oregon police. I know the local motor policeman who does the majority of traffic stops. He is univesally hated by the populace in his official capacity as black/white in thinking and rigid. But he also told me once while aiming a radar gun at the end of my street that he was told by his sargeant to ticket everybody above a certain speed without exception, because some local residents complained people were going too fast in the 25 residential zones here. He was having trouble handing out many tickets and gone in two days. It was to keep some old busy-bodies happy. What a waste.
Some parts of Oregon have traffic school. I took one put on by the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept that a-l-m-o-s-t (but not quite!) made the ticket worth while. The traffic deputy who ran the course was knowledgeable, had a sense of humor, and treated the students with respect.

RJ, didn't you see my smiley? :) I'm confident that OM would never make a statement like that in a situation like that.

None on the FJR, in MI the only state perk is wanton speeding. I had a Statie tell me that you can look him in the eye in the fast lane at 84, at 15 over they might think about giving you a ticket. I set my cruise at 83 for the last 10 years with no ill effects.

Got two good ones in cars:

96 MPH in a 70 in a Honda Civic, i didn't know they went that fast.

95 MPH in a 55 in Chicago, lucky it wasn't street racing, the radar started pinging a bit at 135ish and i braked to 95 before he got a read.

On a side note, in Chicago that got me a 50 dollar ticket, and no points after six months probation, and the points wouldn't have transferred anyway.

John. while scrolling through your pictures I decided you just like to make friends and meet new people wherever you go!
Yep, friends and new acquaintances, no doubt. And while some like to smell the roses, I often find myself smelling the swine. As you know, I always make the best of it, --no reason to let the man drag down your spirits, just because they got picked on in grade school as youngsters. Always the DA to help right the wrong of the fuzz.

but someday Mike, I'm going to learn to be like you and avoid the fuzz all together.

RJ, I love your pictorial! By the way, was the photo of La Policia taken in Todos Santos? If so, I also got a 100 peso La Mordida there; riding without my helmet on!
This was a frantic day coming up the interior, I was just north of Puerto Viarta and had done some interesting choice of roads to get around the crazy traffic. ....it caught their attention. Cost me a promise to keep going and a nice pair of riding gloves ....and then they escorted me north ...... Riding gloves were a bribe, but the truth is these guys were more honest than the guys in the states.

I've been riding since 2002, but have never even been pulled over for a roadside sermon until last summer. My ticket was on my FJR.

On the way to work one morning, I got stuck behind some jerk in an old pickup truck that was running very rich, and the fumes were starting to make my eyes sting. I decided to pass him, and I got dinged just as I started slowing down after passing "with authority" (or should I say "against authority  )

I got cited for 57 in a 35. The officer said he was cutting me a break, because he said his equipment first showed me doing 58, and then locked in at 57 (I was probably slowing as I approached) - some break, huh? - I guess I can say at least he didn't cite me for passing in the right lane. Even though he was on a bike, he wasn't interested in what I had to say. I got my ticket defered, which means no performance award for me as long as I play nice for the next 4 months or so.

Meh, I've gone 186 on a track (different bike - not the FJR). I already know I'm fast - I don't need to prove it to anybody :assassin:
