Only two questions, what tribe and where is your casino going to be located?

I think I would try some other designs just to compare

If you just want to shock folks, have a picture of Richard Gere's ******* with a dirty gerbil just barely escaping the Chute-O-Death, or if you're into fantasy type stuff, have a FOXNEWS screen-shot with Bush and an approval rating above 36%.

I'm w/ Highlander on this one. How does this add anything to an "FJR" discussion board. Obviously meant to stir the pot. :asshat2:

As some of you may remember, I have been looking for ideas to paint my bike. Don’t get me wrong the silver is nice, but I just want something different. Therefore, I have been shooting ideas around with an airbrush artists and this is his first sketch up.
He took my passion for scuba and worked with it. He said he would take bits of the torn flag and paint it onto the rear section of the bike, but did not give the sketch that much time.

I have never been a skull fan, but I do like this. What are your thoughts?

GAY!!!!!!!!! but it's your bike and money. Looks to much like 99% of the HD crowd's crap. Sorry ,just my unbiased opinion.

Don't see how that skull or mural has anything to do w/ scuba. Do like the red for visibility but don't see how you could get red into a scuba thing unless it was "Elmo" or sompin. Seems like an artist could give you a design to remind us of "Sea Hunt" (Lloyd Bridges).

Good input guys.

The skull has nothing to do with scuba. While talking/emailing with him I mentioned scuba and a dive flag, he added the skull on his own. While the skull is not going to happen I do still like a scuba flag that looks like it is blowing in the wind. I do not want a red bike with a white strip. The entire bike will get a paint scheme, the image he sent was just an markup photo.

Here is a section from the first email where I gave him ideas:

**********

Idea one:

Pearlescent white with a very faint real flame pattern. I do not want the flames to over power the bike.

Idea two:

Blue with a very faint real flame pattern. I do not want the flames to over power the bike.

Idea three:

I have a passion for scuba, so a water theme might work. However, I am concerned a water theme would look to girly.

Idea four:

Use the scuba diving flag (red and white) and make it look like it is blowing in the wind.

I would like the flag to have texture. Maybe blowing in the wind, I just don’t want a red bike with a white strip.

Idea five:

I like a US flag theme

I am open to your input. I just want to make my bike unique, but not look like a Harley.

**********

I am sure the skull came form his creative side, but it won’t make it to the final paint scheme.

Great idea to take a picture with me on the bike and sent that to him. The photo he used in his markup was some photo he found on the net.

The cost so far does not seem that bad. Here is a section form one of his emails responding to questions from me.

some where around 900 - 1200

i would say about a week and a half

i always put 7-8 coats of clear

Thanks for the input, keep it coming

Alrighty then, here goes.

I am highly suspect of a couple of things. If those were the ideas that you sent, and the skull was the result...WTF? Is he listening to you? Or, perhaps he is a one-trick pony. I wonder how many variations of the "skull" he has done. I also have suspicions about the price. Sounds cheap. Too cheap. And...7 or 8 coats of clear? What product is he using? The only clear I know of that will allow that many coats is lacquer and that is near 50-year-old technology.

I'm with Beeroux in that the skull thing just doesn't work. It's like "I wanna be a Harley guy but but but..." I also love to dive, but didn't get the scuba flag idea till you pointed it out, as the skull is so dominating. On the "up" side, you'd be the first on your block!

The bike's big. It's strong. From your avatar (assuming it's you) you're a solid guy, so going bold like you did works. The bike has big solid sides, plus a fairly flat front, so what can you do with those? Everybody loves dolphins and is fascinated by morays, so how about a theme merging a muscular one of those with the dive flag? Or maybe a wavy through the water vision of a Harley on the bottom on it's side and above it is a dive boat with a Yamaha motor? Or of the logo for your favorite dive gear?

Hell, I wanted a weird HR Geiger 'bio-mech' paint job on mine, but it would probably cost 5K minimum done well....

Looking for something like this?? Breaks up the grayness and sure a lot less $$

Thats really nice. I like the idea of appliqués. You can change the look anytime (like right after that bank robbery.) Probably us cruiser riders who are the first to paint or personalize. Especially since Yamaha has only one color per year.

UNIQUE is a good thing. Make it yours.

A couple of years ago I was at a rally where a guy with a booth was airbrushing leathers. His bike was in front of the booth with an awesome star wars theme airbrushed all over the bike. Since you're a diver, what about a reef scene? I'm a diver myself and thought about that one too but then thought about what it would probably cost and changed my mind.

Thanks for the compliment. I like to personalize my rides also. I am still a cruiser owner with a trickout 96 Royal Star(aka-RedBrute).

Good input on the cost being to low. Could part of the low cost be I am not giving him the bike, only the tins and plastic? He would not remove and replace anything. I will verify anything before I go with this guy.

I have thought about a ocean theme. My concern is it would turn out girly.
