I was going to have little squashed bugs painted all over the front of mine......

Seriously though, I agree with Haulin' Ashe, whatever graphic you go with, make sure the predominant colors are something that will be seen by the cagers while you are riding.

Good input on the cost being to low. Could part of the low cost be I am not giving him the bike, only the tins and plastic? He would not remove and replace anything. I will verify anything before I go with this guy.
I have thought about a ocean theme. My concern is it would turn out girly.
Ask for references, preferably some from some time back.

You could always go the KR route...

How about using an ocean theme with the same basic idea you had in your sample but instead of a skull use some kind of ocean creature like a moray eel or lion fish or something like that. Not SCUBA specific but still within the general theme.

If I get the FJR painted, I'm likely going with Honda Goldwing Yellow, or the slightly deeper (1995) Honda Magna Yellow.

Here is the latest info I received from Rick about him painting my bike.

I use house of kolor and ppg I also use polyurethane clear on everything I do

I also have a very small shop low over head

I will also take the bike to him. This is not a bad thing at all. It is a perfect reason to take a road trip.

I am still looking for ideas, and taking a lot of input form Michelle, the SO. Michelle like this dive flag the most, Link.

My latest place to look for inspiration is here.

This is a since paint scheme, but not really me.

It does look really nice

I just had an idea!!!

What does everyeone think about the same dive flag type theme, but instead of a skull the yamaha logo pushing out from the flag?

Thought?

I might try to get this idea past Michelle.

Being involved in the past with creativity (used to teach it  ) take any theme you like and translate into underwater theme if that is what you like.

Have a look at the Honda Formula 1 cars paint scheme - does it look 'girly' to you? - and so what if it does to others - are you the 'gentle' giant or a neanderthal :)

- they have a map of the world painted on it to represent a 'green' theme. How the hell racing a F1 car can be considered green beats me though. Not suggesting you use this but you may be setting a new trend.

Underwater themes? (replace any animal/bird with ya favourite sea creature - stingray, sea snake, dugong, whale shark, coral background - etc etc.)

whatever you do - just be comfortable with it and let your personality/likes dictate - not how you think others will interpret the scheme (the message is in the receiver and they can be  or :coolsmiley03: )

John T, my suggestion which is only that, you could use the red and white diver flag theme and incorperate flames and have the best of both worlds. I think the idea with a paint job on this bike is to not be too strong with the graphics. Possibly do just a two tone red on top with the white on the bottom half or reverse the order. The secret here is phasing in the two colors, ie. not having a sharp cut off in color but phase into the other color. You could incorperate the flames using the ghost flame which is suttle and doesn't jump out at you. One would have to actually look into the paint to see the flames. Or instead of using ghost flames you could use ghost waves in the paint as the same as the flames ie. in suttle lineage as one would look down into the water made possible by using the airbrush. A painter could really get into that. Simple and clean is the trick and not too busy IMO. Good luck and keep us updated. PM. <>< :D

Went to the aquarium in Gatlinburg TN last weekend.

Underwater theme--maybe girly.

Sharks--not girly.

A big monster shark in the middle of a turn may look quite nice.
