Oil can bypass the Yamaha filter media.

The service manual provides the range of pressure drops for bypass to occur.

Bypass Valve Opening Pressure = 11.4 to 17.1 psi.

Relief Valve Operating Pressure = 69.6 to 81.2 psi.
