Powerband very different after minor mechanical work

I was thinking along the lines that a sufficiently loose chain would change the relationship between the crank and the cams. I should have said valve timing, not just timing. But I'm just speculating. The only other things the mechanic did (as far as I know) was change the plugs and the coolant. But there is a definite performane boost - much snappier throttle response. Who knows? Maybe the plugs were a mess.
New plugs could do it, maybe he also did a TB sync?

I'd like to think he did SOMETHING else. The SOB kept my bike for two weeks and charged me $515, even though I supplied my own coolant and plugs.
:bad:

It's about time you found this site....
I'd say I found it about two weeks too late. I've owned about 10 bikes previously, but they were all naked. I could see all the mechanical parts and do most of the work myself. I don't even know where the damn air filter is on this thing. Just read about the Yoda riding position here, BTW. I'll have to try it. I have a very long torso (six-foot-two, but only a 30-inch inseam) and my back is killing me, even with bar risers. Is there a comfortable replacement seat that would lower my butt an inch or so? There must be another thread here someplace about lower seats.

Holy crap...were you a wrestler in high school? :)

I've got a 31 inch inseam and just support off the balls of my feet.

I think instead of bar risers, you need stock or lowers...you must have a VERY upright riding position (unless you have T-rex arms) which may be one reason your back hurts.

Actually, I wear a 36-inch sleeve and until I blew out my rotator cuffs, was a competitive weightlifter (I am proof of interbreeding between Neanderthals and **** Sapiens). Reaching the ground is no problem, thanks to my clownishly large (14) feet (insert your own ***** joke here). If I lowered my bars, I'd be staring straight down at my front wheel. I figure I can't get the bars any higher without swapping cables and hoses. I otherwise love this bike, but it's not a very good fit. Let's not even discuss helmets. I wear an 8.

I'm 6' 5" & long waisted...normal lentgh arms but dainty little size 13 foot! Have the same problems, and if I elevate the windshield any it just makes it worse. Thought about a deeper seat but that would scrunch up my legs and just be a trade-off, at best. Doesn't really seem to be much of a solution that I can find, (already have the 1" riser blocks, which help but fall short of solving the bent over issue)....the FJR is such a great machine I'll just deal, I guess.
