I've been lurking around this forum for a while as I've been waiting for the right FJR to turn up in the used market. I think I have finally found it, it's an '01 model (I think that would be an '02 in the US) with just 19k miles on the clock. One owner since '03 who appears to have taken very good care of it, installing 12v socket, beowulf cans, throttlemeister cruise control etc. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow, and if everything looks good "in the flesh" I'll be riding it home :bike:

Welcome Iceway. I had an '01' and now an '04'.

Once bitten it's hard to find anything as good!!

Good luck for tomorrow.

Iceaway,

Sweden. How cool is that? We don't get a whole lot of input from your country. You obviously speak good English; are you actually FROM Sweden? Also wondering what used FJR's cost over there? I'm guessing that bike might be $4500 +/- a little... over here in the States.

Post up pics if you get it! I think we can all guarantee that you'll love the bike.

(And by the way, just for the record, the first year in the U.S. was '03.)
The observant forum member would have noticed he is from Sweden.

D'oh!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I'll make sure to get some pics of it asap.

I can guarantee you that I am 100% Swedish :) English education starts quite early in Sweden, and unlike many other European countries movies and tv-shows are never dubbed, but rather subtitled. That definitely helps with learning english "passively".

You are very fortunate "over there" when it comes to buying motor vehicles... I'm shelling out about $7300 for that bike. I'm hoping on sealing the deal tonight, because it looks like we're going to have cold weather (~0 degrees, that is celsius) and possibly snow (?!) this weekend, and I want to get some miles on it before that :)

Ouch, that sounds like Australian bike prices. Glad to see you've found what looks like a little used well taken care of bike. You are going to enjoy the heck out of it. Please please please tell me you are a photo type person, because I'm certainly digging the idea of having someone around that'll be posting pics of their bike with the Swedish countryside. Pics of the bike with Swedish women will be welcome as well.

Ok ok ok, so I'm more interested in the second photo option, ya got me! :D

Iceaway- Good luck, you won't regret it. I made the Feej plunge a couple months back and been loving it ever since.

Cheers from across the pond :)

Iceaway, I am located not far away from you, just over the pool in Estonia. I am afraid your weekend snow will be also coming here.

I've been riding FJR for 3 years now and it is really a fantastic machine. Very soon you will find out that Sweden is too small country for a bike like this, so you probably will be coming over to Estonia as well. Let me know, we can then do some miles together.

Congrats...from the American midwest. My Swedish forefathers moved here a long time ago...have a fun time touring on your new bike.

'tis true. But the even more observant forum member would have noticed the OP mentioned an '02 US version. I merely meant to point out that us Yanks had to suffer deeply for additional year. ;)

I am now a very happy owner of an '01 FJR in mint condition! I will provide you with this ultra crappy mobile phone picture:

I was over in Estonia on a road trip (by car unfortunately) two years ago, amazing country! I really loved it there. Pärnu and Tartu are really cool places I'd like to visit again some time. I'll let you know when I'm heading over there :drinks:

Thanks for responding to my questions. I asked if you were FROM Sweden (gotta love old Skoot's wise cracks) because of how well you worded your original post. I've read a lot of posts by guys from other countries and I can usually detect by their wording that English is their second language. I teach students who are learning English as a second language so I pick up on that right away. You however, had me fooled. Ya seem to speak it just as good as one of us Yanks.

You were right about the price, it's a little high by American standards, but ya know what? You did OK. At least you didn't have to go out and spend the big bucks on a new one... and I'm guessing you couldn't get the discounted prices that we enjoy here either.

How's that windshield holding up for ya with all that cold weather? Thinking about a larger one yet? Mine makes a huge difference on my 05 when it's cold. The stock shield is so undersized when the temps get below 40 or so... IMHO.

Anyway, congratulations on the purchase. Hope you're enjoying the new ride.

As a computer geek since birth, I have spent more hours than I care to think about in front the computer chatting away on IRC, discussing in forums etc so I suppose that has helped me a lot when it comes to writing in english. Speaking it is a different matter however :D So little time to think about words and phrasing, it usually sounds pretty bad...

The windshield is excellent! Compared to my old VFR it is huge. I am also a quite small person, around 5"8', so with the windshield in the top position I can look through it rather than over it. Aesthetically I prefer keeping it as low as possible though ;) I do have plans for installing heated grips, a lowering kit for the passenger footpegs, and some kind of GPS device.

So I managed to snap a couple more shots of the bike, a bit more highres than the last one :) On a completely different note I managed to accidentally wheelie for the first time ever today, that was quite exciting.
