Dayum!!! The collector for that thing must be the size of a 1600cc VW motor!!

When I started the install of the exhaust I was sure there was no way in hell it would work but with interesting vocabulary, a rubber hammer and more patience than I'm used to it fit. All six pipes have to enter the collector at the same time and they are a tight slip fit and no clamps. It all clears the canter stand and you can still get to the oil filter. It's scary close to the radiator but I think I can shim it a bit to gain clearance.

It's midnight, and I'm still running a job that started at 1830...

While waiting for job updates, here's some exhaust ****..

Speaking of Exhaust ****...

This should do someting for yah...

It even clears the center stand!

I wonder what it will sound like?

Baby, Baby, Oh Baby!

It's a good thing Ray has a lift, otherwise we'd not be seeing this view.. :)

<ducking> Ray said he had lots of fun installing this DG 6-1 system.. </ducking>

No clamps, all a slip fit?

Sure seems like it would be difficult to get all pipes lined up and inserted..

More to follow..

Looks like Ray spent a few hours wiring stuff back up..

Sparking plugs. Those are aftermarket coils, the OEM's were weak.

Front fairing inner wiring.

The jungle. The red lead heading downstairs used to be for an electric fuel pump.

The big gray wires are for the headlight. A relay is in the rear tail section.

We removed the PAIR. It never really worked. All it did was get grunged up and cause rough running.

This V holds both rectifiers and regulators. Yes, two.

More to come..

Has the engine been fired up yet? I'm waiting for the report on that. Looks like Carver will have some cosmetic stuff to do once he gets it home. Some surface rust and dirt have to be cleaned up to complete the restoration; especially on the electrical components/wiring harness. A visit to your local store for a bunch of stainless hardware is in order.

No it hasn't run yet. Not to worry, the majority of the cosmetics will be addressed and keep in mind this bike lives at the end of a loooong dirt road and is a rider not a trailer queen. I have a larger stock of stainless and cad plated fasteners than most stores so no need for a trip. The wiring has seen major changes from stock to add the second alternator and a number of changes Don made for upgrades along the way .

Ross, I agree. I just sent Ray an email with the green light to replace external fasteners as inventory allows. It's amazing how bad the old stuff looks in comparison to new.

..and yes, this one's gonna a be rider not a prom queen so she'll see dirt, dust, bugs and rain.

"Ride 'em, don't hide them!"

After looking at how low the really nice exhaust headers and collector hangs I'm thinking you could use a nicely chromed, quick disconnect rock 'n speed bump shield.

Yeah ! so funny Fred had to post it twice. It's not a sore subject OM but a well traveled one.

Finished catching up from vacation crap so in the morning the mighty KZ is back on the front burner.

Don and I put our heads together and created a halfwit but did sort out most of the charging system while lounging in Sonora so that can be installed and maybe even work.

Don will have some fresh pictures in a couple days.

There was a bit of a set back caused by a defective head gasket and another issue caused by yours truly but I just received the bits and pieces to return to forward motion. Need to re energize the KZ brain cells. Good thing I quit drinking years ago or they would all be dead.

All good things take time, Ray.

Good to see La Pine is cold and your back in the shop working on the important stuff!

I start my looon hours Monday.
