The ground is indeed winter white with more falling as I type. I just finished the masking on the ( hopefully ) last of the powder coating. Engine covers,Bralecalipers and mounts, fork tubes and PAIR covers. Steering and swing arm bearings are due today and I can start pieceing the running gear together.

Should have the drive shaft boot from Germany ( one of those unobtainium parts) after the first of the month and then the engine can go in.Even when finished Don's bike will look nothing like the green one as it is a totaly different model. I'm not sure what that one is.

Went up in my loft yesterday and started organizing the XR600 parts so I can start building that engine. I'm out of flat spots to work on unless I park my 55 truck outside and that isn't likely.

Lessee, a few weeks ago Ray wasn't done with the engine. The frame frame just came back from being powder coated. Even if Ray were Miracle Max and got it all together the real miracle would be all the greenery in the background when his ground should be winter white. I'm thinking someone posted a teaser picture, some motorcycle porn that kinda looks like what he hopes his bike will be like.
That fooker Carver posted that to just screw with me....fooker.

From Don's blog, some French fellow just did this, "I installed an injection kit, I had a lot of trouble with carburetors." You too, Don, for a few dollars more can have .... :punk:
Now would be the right time to do the conversion. The labor at this point would'nt be an issue.

Rebuilt a boat once upon a time.............................and the water just kept getting deeper, and deeper, and deeper.............

Seems like the same thing happens with motorcycles.

They say the Happiest days in a boat owners life are the day he buys it and the day he gets rid of it.

I have never heard this applied to motorcycles ;)

Back to foward motion. Swing arm and triple tree going in today. Don should have pictures soon. I was working on the XR600 motor but the transmission has me stalled at the moment.

Does Don really need more than one gear on a 600+ CC single cylinder motor????

Nope. Just give him second, that should get him around his track without too many issues. Oh, and have him get some extra clutch plates for all those race gate starts he'll be doing.

Shiny Pieces

I like the dog-eared and marked up service manual in the background.
That's the way it's supposed to look!

Ray reports the final drive boot arrived, so the engine can back into the frame.
Ray has to go in for surgery, so project KZ may be on the back burner for a bit.
That's OK, GET HEALTHY, RAY!

Powder coating is a thing of beauty.

I wonder if the bars are going to fit into the saddles with the powder coat there?

Where to stop? I see all those corroded bolt heads and wince.

She's looking more like a motobike every day.

6 cylinders of raw, unbridled, arm-ripping horsepower. Not.

I ignored the bike for too long, the cases were to corroded to polish out. I might end up on ebay to find some fresher ones. Later

Yeah, Ray, I'm amazed anyone lets you work on their bikes. Lazy guys like you always take dangerous shortcuts and never do thorough work. :)

If you can't dazzle them brilliance baffle them with bull shit. I've been bullshitting customers for almost 50 years so I must be brilliant.:) :) :) :)

The project is moving along. Don has more pictures but his work thing takes most his time. I'm getting down to the little shit that was apart before I got involved and am having to source some hard to find pieces. The surgery slowed me a bit but progress continues.

It will/should be done this spring.
