OK, aerobatic pilots, how do you set the controls to do those fast rolls? Rudder hard one way and ailerons hard the other?

I'm no expert on aerobatics but...

If rolling right, he'd have to go Right aileron, then as the plane neared 90 degrees

he'd need left rudder to keep the nose up and neutral elevator. As he rolls inverted

he'd need to zero out the rudder and apply "down" elevator, then again nearing 90

degrees left rudder 90 and neutral elevator. Back to horizontal the rudder comes out

and "up" elevator is applied to keep the nose pointed in the right direction.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat - for subsequent rolls.

If you look at his fingers at one point while he's rolling both fingers are continuously

moving the controlls to adjust as he rolls.

What he said. But, it's easier said than done. I've dabbled with the rc aircraft some. This video link calls it a rolling harrier, but shows the rolling circles. A harrier is the same thing, but the plane is in a stalled attitude. There's a lot going on at the controls for sure.

Yes. This is amazingly amazing flying. I wonder at the trail of broken equipment he may have left behind him during his journey up the learning curve.

That's some flying skills the low and slow moves are amazing, it looks like a special stunt plane, the rear elevators move compleatly vertical when he landed like air brakes.

OK, that's just nutz-o. Brought up two thoughts:

How many models did he total developing those skills?

If he ever gets a real pilot's license, I ain't going up with him. :puke:

What do you want to bet those planes go for more than our bikes...And I bet he's been through a few of them. Holy cow. That second video, with the Harrier Roll, the guy says it took him 4 years and about 5000 hours of sim time to perfect the roll, "So, don't get discouraged." Dayum...

future air force drone pilot for sure...
Yes...sadly. What I mean by that is that as a private pilot I would love to see this kid IN a real plane, not flying a video console. Of course with today's prices being such a huge barrier this may be all future kids can do, fly models.

Sorry for the rant...but I see us going the way of Europe where only the truly rich can fly. :-(

He is one hell of a good RC pilot though!

At least the receipients of Reaper/Preator carrying Hellfire missles can be treated to an cool aerobatic display before he goes hot.

Probably a bit calous, but I couldn't resist.
