This is the American Honda Moriwaki MD600 project... a 600cc full-spec Moto2 bike! Very exciting to see Roger Lee Hayden ride this as a Wild Card entry in Moto2 race at Indianapolis next month.

Awesome paint by Drudi Performance..... full story here.

Sweet! I do wonder why some of the Moto2 bikes have the exhaust on the left side though...

Hope he does better than he's been doing in WSB.

It may be on display at Laguna, but, there's no Moto2 race there. He'll be riding it at Indianapolis.

And Kevin Schwantz is the team manager for the effort. Awesomeness.

I hope they're thinking about doing a full season next year. It would be pretty cool to see an American team in Moto2.

If not that, I hope Roger Lee cozying up to American Honda will get him away from that wretched Kaw satellite team. It's gotta be frustrating racing the worst bike on the grid.

There actually is one American rider in Moto2 now. Kenny Noyes. The team is funded primarily by actor Antonio Banderas. He was on the better end of a rather brutal incident at the finish of last weeks race in Catalunya. Carmelo Morales was on the losing end of the deal, in a big way. Check out this video (worth the wait through the commercial). Turns out Morales was basically OK after the incident, but the video leaves you certain he's in bad shape. Kenny pulled off a really nice last turn pass on Morales to finish one position ahead of him...Morales tried to pull out of the draft at the last second and BAM! Bad **** happened.

Oh, and yeah Dale, Roger Lee's bike is simply bad-***! I REALLY hope he and Kevin Schwantz have a full time entry next year, be it via Honda or whoever. Roger's standings w/ Pedercini are not indicitive of his abilities. He's on a team that simply doesn't have the funding to put him up front (oh, and they're riding green bikes, seemingly a curse to road racing the last few years). Go Roger. Go Kevin.

Race fans, Moto2 has been some VERY exciting racing so far this year. If you're not watching the races, you might want to start.

Yep, that was a helluva crash in HD slow mo.

Not hard to lip read Antonio either.

Agree on many fronts - Moto2 has some incredible racing, and it's amazing that he came through that crash (apparently) without a broken bone!

I held my breath when the bike *landed* on the back of his head andneck.... gnarley!

One of the ugliest crashes I've seen. And, yeah, he walked away with nothing more than some bruising. Unreal. Noyes said he and Morales were laughing about it in the med van after the race.

And +1 on Moto2 having great races this year. I guess there's something to be said for how a spec engine improves the show. The luddite in me wants to say "Meh." at the idea, but the fan in me is enjoying the hell out of it. Big grids, great riders, tight battles -- it's great to watch.

Back on topic....the bike officially breaks cover. #34 is Schwantz's number that was previously retired by the FIM. His involvement allowed it to be used again.

See it here

Oh, man, I hope this becomes a permanent ride next year. Moto2 had been a gas to watch this year and it would be even more fun with another 'Mercun to root for.

And I hope someone gives me a free Multistrada.

That last thing isn't related to the first, by the way. I just thought I'd toss it out there 'cause you just never know...
