Riding in Shorts

When it gets hot, I ride in shorts a lot. Underneath my mesh overpants.

Not to mention the bugs and small rock strikes on the lower legs... I always wear all the gear. You just never know... Ride safe !!!

O, Woe is me!!
Even with mesh overpants, my leg burns with shorts, but not with pants. Bundle up to keep from burning!

Honda must have perfected the airflow on the Goldwing. ATGATT for the Goldwing riders around here is loafers, shorts, Hawaiian tee and baseball cap! :lol:
Down my way it all depends on what you're riding.
Goldwing is similar to what you describe,
Race replica (GSXR, R1, etc) full face helmet with muscle shirt, shorts, & flip-flops
HD's no helmet, favorite black harley T shirt, jeans & boots.
When I'm considering it, I go to Google images and type in "road rash".

I did the same, shorts under my mesh pants, on my FZ1 and also cooked my leg. Aloe lotion helped a bunch. However, I love the fact that shorts under my mesh on the FJR is like bliss. I have no idea how you burned yourself...wonder if you are missing some of that foam on the inside of the fairings. My legs get warm but not to the point of being uncomfortable on my 07AE.

ATGATT. I got some nasty burns from the tank of my Gen 1 FJR, through nylon shorts and mesh riding pants. I sit as far forward as I can because my arms are so short. Riding home from Arizona during some triple digit weather. Everything was hot and uncomfortable but I didn't realize it was actually a burn until we got to a rest stop.
I spent the rest of the ride home wondering how on earth I was going to explain my injury at the ER. Thankfully, getting off the bike, a cool shower and lots of aloe Vera saved me the embarrassment.

Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of ATGATT, or lack of.....
I was fishing about a week ago, was waiting to pull out on HWY 26 by Palisades Res....
Along comes a Harley, probably 60mph or so, enjoying a nice ride on a summer day.
Dad, driving, no helmet, street clothes, no gear.
Mom, passenger, riding, no helmet, street clothes, no gear.
Now, the kicker:
CHILD: probably 3-4 years old. Sandwiched between Mom and Dad, no helmet, no gear!
Damn, it's a free country, but that was just wrong!!!

I have gotten so accustomed to riding in gear that I don't feel comfortable riding in anything else. Tried riding in Joisey without my jacket, that I actually pulled back over and put it back on. The flapping T Shirt was bothering the heck out of me.

If i'm just going for a short ride like to my buddies... yes, shorts McGee here i come. I'm not dressing all up in no 100 degree weather to go down the road a it. U can call it stupid (protection wise) but at least I won't be one of those morons spending more time dressing and undressing than what it takes total time to get there. Long or aggressive rides is another story and yes I'm all about the correct gear. So depends ~~~~ situation.
Now I do wear a FF helmet even in States that don't require them. Go figure but note the helmet whips on in 1.6 seconds.

Well, it's nice to know, that on the short rides, you have a precognitive ability to know that you won't be involved in an accident involving the large loss of skin and underlying membrane due to the "cheese grating action" of the road surface.
That is a great ability to have. I wish I had it. :clapping:
You should share the knowledge of that ability with your insurance company. I'm certain that your gift is a rare gift, and that you should receive a break on your insurance premiums.
