Actually I've been following this and compared to the past few weeks, traffic all around the top end was much better during both morning and evening rush hours. Still sucks, but less than before!

You're the transportation expert, but I think it highlights how close to capacity we are with the current infrastructure..

Flattery gets my motor running. (Pun intended.)

It's not just Atlanta; every major city in the US has freeway systems that run at the edge of calamity. That's not a bad thing, really, because it costs WAY too much money to keep widening highways so they operate well during peak hour traffic loads. Besides, if the highways worked well during rush hours, urban areas would just sprawl farther and farther out from the city center.

If you build it, they will come.

I recently got a new job that has me in ATL about once a month (usually by air). I rode down last week (before the opening); it was a bear. HOWEVER, I did get a Peach Pass so that I could use their extraspecial supersecret HOV lanes that REQUIRE a transponder affixed to the headlight (yes, I know). Having access to that Peach Pass lane helped immensely.

Next time, give me a little warning via PM, and we'll ride some of the nice stuff in the places where NC, SC, GA, and TN come together. Hell, I'll ride with you even if you're on the Speed Triple R-spec. (ESPECIALLY then.)

Love to! Huge fan of those areas. Grew up on Lookout Mtn. Need to spend a weekend at the reopened TWO.

Some of my rides have included that area: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mojohand/collections/72157603209453927/
