Crossing Washington was a real eye opener. I always thought it was all mountains and trees. Nuh uh! Inland is high desert and much much farmland.
Gunny!

When we crossed into Washington (from Montana / Idaho), I was expecting the same, and saw the same! Sooze and I got a chuckle out of it.

Keep the rubber side down, guys, and ride safe!

I thought today we'd be hauling to Bryce/Zion Utah. I forgot I had routed Idaho 21 & 75. So right off the top we had to do a UTurn as I blew passed the turn (I thought it was a via point). Then climbed up into the mountains on the Ponderosa Trial.

I've forgotten who suggested it, but THANK YOU. It kicked major buttass and it needs to be on your route if your in the area. About 150 miles of kickassedness!

We stopped for a great view of the Sawtooth Range:

Here's how to tell if your having a good day:

The Saw Tooth range levels off into a high plateau with miles and miles of great scenery:

But all things must come to an end and onto the drudgery running down to Ogden and Salt Lake City. The whole thing is just one big town! I figgered we should try to get on the far side of town to avoid the morning traffic. Damn thing just never ends. So were hold up near the airport.

Here's Tom after a 515 mile day (most of that in the twisties!)

Tomorrow brings Bryce Canyon and Zion then onto the North Rim of the Grand Canyon & Taos. Time flies, were almost half way done the epic journey!

Wow...what a ride. I remember having great time last year in Idaho on the way to CFR....love following along with you guys. Thanks for posting. Tell Tom to crack a smile now and then. Also, is Rob still with you guys? Haven't seen him in awhile...thought he might be holed up in barb's place.

Hey hey hey Wheatie this is a family thread. I'm just too lazy to cut n paste all my pics here.

Rob

Bungie,

We'll be in the Bryce/Zion/Capital Reef country (Hwy 12, Hwy 24, Hwy 89) on the 18th and 19th. Looks like you'll be gone by then, hope you made it out of SLC OK!!

We're eating lunch at Slacker's Burger Joint on hwy 24. Going into the area then out again. New Mexico tomorrow.

Rob

Phew what a day.

Rode out of SLC in the morning rush hour. F'N STUPID there. Bombed over to Torrey UT then onto the Grand Staircase in Canyon country. Scared the HELL out of me. Nobody told me the road is just wide enough for two cars and has a drop on BOTH sides of well over a couple thousand feet.

Mr. Scaredypants didn't stop for pics. Rob and Tom did. Even Tom said it scared the snot out of him.

From there onto Bryce Canyon. At least the road to the park.

and theirs even a couple of 'tunnels'

Talk about scenic. I must've taken 100 pics today, Even one of Rob, Not smiling natch!

From there Rob and Tom decided to ride Zion. I didn't. Construction, hot, getting late and I had an itchy vag. So I told them I'd run down to Jacob Lake on 89 and get us a room. Crossed into AZ across the desert sweating my bag off only to find out theirs no vacancy! Rode all the way back Nabob or whatever this damn place is called and got the last room.

Wears Rob and Tom? I have no friggin' clue. I texted Rob with the hotel/room info. But I suspect their hold up in a hotel on the west side of the park.

Gotta go outside to see if I can get a cell signal to see what the dealio is.

It's officially an adventure!

Ha, you rode down the staircase, yes that does open you eyes somewhat.

Sorry you missed Zion, I think that's my favorite park in the whole SW.

There is a small town at the West gate of Zion with accommodation, we stayed at a Best Western and I'm thinking (hoping) Tom and Rob stopped there.

Chris

Update,

The two fugliest call girls ever just knocked on my door. Boy, was I glad to see them!

Still a fun trip for the three amigos...good thing you're all back together again. Separated and worrying about your riding buds sucks.

Keep the pictures coming...it has been raining pigs and sheep most of the day in Seattle.

Sitting by the pool in Taos. Everybodies gone for a ride. The Canadians are relaxing by the pool taking a down day. Why you ask? Yesterday we left at 8:15am and rode down to the North Rim. Spent all of about an hour there. Then rode straight through to just before midnight to get here. Ever cross the desert near Page or Monument Valley at 100F+, then finish the day off riding into Taos at full dark?

700 miles later...e

Just so you know its not all mountains and scenery

It's just to bad we couldn't stay longer at the North Rim:

But even Rob and to bust out his Captain Morgan:

From there it was across the desert to Page, uh:

After meeting the mayor late last night ("Were kings of the earth Senor") I went for a little walk around Taos:

There must be 200 "Genuine Indian Art Galleries" here most featuring the best of China:

IMG_0164.jpg

But its a nice town with great southwest adobe architecture everywhere:

IMG_0165.jpg

But typing this by the pool is working up a sweat... time for another dip. Last scene of the parking lot.. 2 lone Cdn FJR's. Everybody else is out riding
