I'm a Ride Captain with the Patriot Guard Riders and my fellow RC and I decide to attend a KIA funeral mission in north central Florida (I live in suburb of New Orleans). Headed out for Eglin Air Force base where the soldier killed in Afganistan would land at 9am, then the church service in Clearview, and the internment in Baker. I'd rather not post pics of a funeral, if ya'll don't mind.

Left at midnight Fri night/Sat morning and returned Sat night at 11am. Tripometer indicated 547 miles. Nice weather and warm in the 60's and 70's whole time, but some lightish rain on the way home near Mobile, AL.

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'

Kudos to you Mike, for being a PGR rider, and Captain too!

I've done several PGR rides, each has been a learning experience.

About the 1/2 SS ride? Me n' the Candy Butt Association riders just love it! :yahoo:

Good job Mike!! I sure appreciate people llike you who are in the Patriot guard!!! I still can't believe there are people,,,, I mean idiots out there that will corrupt a military funeral :angry2:

Congraduations on your service to the Patriot Guard !! :clapping:

Regarding the 1/2 Iron Butt, might it be said your 1/2 Assed??

Best of the New Year to you!

Mike - good job on riding "Isabella" in the PGR detail for that kind of distance.

I am sure that the family of the individual that was KIA appreciated the show of support.

God Bless America and especially those that have given to protect our country in one way or another.

Thanx much gang green, 'preciate the kind words and encouragement.

I've been doing this be 3 years this April and RC for over a year and it's very deep, but fullfilling as I like to interact with the families whenever possible and appropriatel. Quit counting after 50 missions of all types, must be 60 now.

Fortunately, Tue night a Senior Chief - David Smith - in the Navy is returning from his 10 month deployment in Iraq to his wife Kelly in the suburb of Nawlins' called Belle Chasse where the New Orleans Joint Command Center Naval Air Station is located. He wants a Cajun meal right off the bat and we are going to purchase one for him and his family on the escort home from the airport. I have a contact with the public relations director of New Orleans International Airport and she provides us secure parking for "Welcome Home" missions like this. We have 15 bikes saying they are coming and will form a flag line in the lobby and salute when he comes off the Delta Concourse with his wife.

Unfortunately, another has fallen from Pensacola, FL. I'm awaiting confirmation of when the funeral mission will be. Also, a member here has offered to help me install a AVCC - Audiovox Cruise on my Gen I which he has experience doing. He is in Panama City, FL which is not much further than Pensacola.

In Service,
