Morphene ROCKS when your in the hurts :yahoo: Morphene is proof that god loves us. :dribble:
Morphine SUCKS!! I had an issue several years ago, call it a cancer scare. Head. Got Morphine Sulfate, in liquid form. When I could no longer stomach that, and the pain had escalated beyond imaginable, I was on it AND a morphine inhaler. Finally, after a couple months, I overdosed on the mix, and was hospitalized, where finally the real source of my problems was diagnosed.. I have no idea why anyone would consider it fun. Some problems with it-

Morphine may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

* dizziness

* lightheadedness

* drowsiness

* upset stomach

* vomiting

* constipation

* diarrhea

* loss of appetite

* weight loss

* changes in ability to taste food

* dry mouth

* sweating

* weakness

* headache

* agitation

* nervousness

* mood changes

* confusion

* difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep

* stiff muscles

* shaking of a part of your body that you cannot control

* double vision

* red eyes

* small pupils (black circles in the middle of the eyes

* eye movements that you cannot control

* chills

* flu symptoms

* decreased sexual desire or ability

* difficulty urinating or pain when urinating

Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

* slow, shallow, or irregular breathing

* blue or purple color to the skin

* fast or slow heartbeat

* seizures

* hallucinations (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist)

* blurred vision

* fainting

* hives

* rash

* itching

* tightness in the throat

* difficulty swallowing

* swelling of the arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs

Now, does that sound like a party,or what? It was pretty much the worst experience of my life. Morphine, over a period of time, will **** you up big time, and if I never see the **** again it will be too soon. There, I feel better now. :unsure:

I rode over and saw Scab this morning. He is definitely doing better than when I was there on Monday but is still in quite a bit of pain. His doctor hinted that he might be able to go home in the next few days!! :yahoo: Hang in there brother!!

Wow. I have been away for three weeks. My fear of checking back in was to see something like this. Glad to hear you're on the mend now, Scab. Get well soon and get home even faster.'

I just got off the phone with him, He was sounding a LOT better and pep-i-er. He said the weekend Dr said (today) that unless he was told he could release them, he could not, but David Feels optomistic that he will be released on Monday. I asked him if he was ready to be released and he said as long as he could get into his chair, he would be ready to go.

Jason,

Shoulda let me know you were going. We coulda hooked up and rode after we made fun of David sommore :rolleyes:

I rode up Friday and spent some time with Scab Friday afternoon. Borrec was there earlier, and I missed him by about 1 hour. Scab is in some pain, even with the morphine, but he seems resolved to get through it. He was talking about his next bike, and one for his wife. She basically won't leave his side... what a gal. He said there was a chunk out of the base of his helmet on the back side... but even though he was knocked out, he didn't suffer a concussion. So... his craziness wasn't increased. BTW... he said there is no wireless access point within range, so he is unable to get to the Internet.

We can assume that Scabette and the Scablings will be glad to have him home. Living at the hospital is no fun. Not only does BB deserve a medal for putting up with Dave, she should get an Oak Leaf cluster for this "adventure". Oh wait, since he can't read this and defend himself....the medal should be festooned with diamonds and rubies! :yahoo:

I s'pose we'll be glad to hear the "going home" news, too. :lol:

Thanks for the reports, guys.

This SUCKS!

Get well soon Scab.

Just returned from vacation & I'm just catching up.

A very good local Yamaha wrench (Jack Tanner) that I worked with back in the 80's was killed yesterday when a 91 year old lady turned in front of him!

I should have stayed at the beach. :angry:

We can all put that bad news behind us!

Kevin called to report from his Scab visitation.

Scab is out of ICU!!!! Wooooooohoooooooooo!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Tube has been removed from his lung and he is very sore. But definitely improving.

Kevin said there are some ugly wounds from the broken ribs and we have to add a broken clavical to the list of Scabimpacts.

(Editor's note: Not sure how you spot ugly wounds on Scab, but I'll leave that alone for now!)

Scab is in Room #929, of the:

Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center

400 E 10th St PO Box 2208

Anniston, Alabama 36207-4780

Telephone

Original Post - OLD NEWS!!!

Just received voice message from Mrs. Scab. Our dear friend Scab has gone down on the bike. He is in ICU with broken ribs, ruptured splene and more. I'm calling for more info and will post update ASAP.

Call it prayer, call it Kharma, call it what you want, but a good man needs our help in any way we can contribute.

*** UPDATE ON SCAB

*** Monday June 11, 00:30 hours

Just spoke with his wife.

Scab went down on Friday about 1:30 in the afternoon. Got caught in a sudden and severe thunderstorm. Greatly reduced visibility and conditions contributed to his overrunning a stop sign at a T-intersection. He doesn't remember anything past his head hitting the ground. Witness said bike slid across the highway into a parking lot with Scab following like rag doll.

Scab is doing okay, but is still in ICU due to bleeding from collapsed lung. He is conscious and speaking, although not always coherently. I told his wife that was not unusual, we are used to that from him. :)

Bike is totaled but insured.

Sounds like our friend is recovering but it will definitely be a long time before he is ride ready.

Just spoke with JWilly. He met BB and the rest of family Scab, and was allowed to visit with Scab a bit.

David (Scab) appears to be okay. He is in extreme pain but has no life threatening injuries at this time. Everyone has high hopes that he will be moved to a regular room in a day or so. Out of ICU will be a very good thing!

He has five broken ribs with several broken in multiple places. There's also some appreciable road rash on one arm. The punctured lung is improving and the bleeding has reduced. So he is being treated for pnuemonia symptoms because of his inability to breath deeply. Broken ribs have a severe effect on breathing ability.

Jason left a laptop with Scab that he will be able to use once he gets out of ICU. So we hope to hear from him personally in a couple days. It looks encouraging. Please keep the prayers and other positive energy flowing his way.

Tube has been removed from his lung. He has managed to sit up some with support. Pain meds are causing him to cop a feel from every woman within reach. (Can't believe they actually believe it's the morphine!)

Sounds very encouraging. He may make it out of ICU tomorrow.
HEY GUYS AND GALS! Letting you all know that we are home FINALLY! :yahoo: David is doing pretty good, just VERY sore. He shows more and more improvement every day. It will take a long while for everything to be back to normal(well...normal for us). :rolleyes: I will just be glad when his little ATTITUDE gets better. He is NOT a good patient......He is an A** when he's in even a little bit of pain. But, being an a** is far better than seeing him point to everything because he"s in too much pain to talk. Guess what I'm trying to say is.......The A**hole is better. :yahoo:

I thank ALL of you guys for your prayers, your support, your visits and the love that is shown in the hard times.. I have really grown to love you guys and can see why David feels the same way. RIGHT BACK AT YOU GUYS!!!

In case any of you guys want to send a card: 6375 County Rd. 13w; Heflin, Al. 36264

Wooo Hoooo! Great news BB!! Thanks for the update and let us know if there is anything we can do to help out.

JW

Great News!!!!!! Welcome Home!!!

Scab, try not to give the great caretaker any crap....she could hide your pain meds and poke on you in places that aren't too much fun.

Continue a successful recovery.

That's great news BB. No wonder no one answered the phone in room 929 today. Like TWN said, put a keyboard in front of him, but wait until after the meds... this should be fun.

Steve in Birmingham.
