Alright, alright....I started this whole ramble craze way back in 2003..I suppose it won't kill me to pick the torch back up.
May kinda sucks for me. Doing the BRP and Smokies here in 2 weeks, have boating plans, house projects, etc. all month on the weekends. And ---ewww....have to travel to MICHIGAN one weekend for work. As a Buckeye...well let's just say I don't like crossing that state line too much!

But June may work. In fact, I know it will! More to come...and soon.
Hmmm...I'm game. Nothing beats the local roads! Let me know if I can help scout in any way.

I have found the following to be true: Plan a ride, they will come!

Heidi, I loved the WV Ramble too. I enjoyed meeting everyone and the riding was phenomenal!

Would do it all over again, but choose a different hotel closer to food by foot. And ride smokehill from the basin up!

Here's the real question, people. Should we hold off and I'll plan a few days of routes in North WV and South Ohio (and probably the MD panhandle) after EOM (perhaps Monday-Wed afterwards)? Or just repeat Wheatons route, which a lot of us know pretty well, sometime in June...thinking late June. Definitely will not conflict it with the NE rides. Heck, we could probably do both, the N. WV routes are easy to remake.

Heidi, I know you haven't been to Ohio yet, and I know you'll be impressed by the challenging roads. Think WV with less trees, more rollercoaster/twisty combos, more sideroads/people, and more difficult to "read" turns.

Meaning often a corner is tougher to determine exactly how long and how sharp it is compared to the superior engineered roads in WV that give you visual clues you can almost always count on. Also, our pavement is not as nice as WV. Only race tracks are better than WV!

Obviously I missed the WV Ramble that you'se are talkin about. Is there anyway that I could get the ride route PM'ed to me. I had an awesome time a few weeks back ridin the Ohio Ramble and would be appreciative if you could send it to me. I suppose you could just post it here so everyone who missed it last year could benefit from the ride route this summer. Either way works for me.

My vote is to re run the Ohio ramble in June. I plan to do it again anyway so this would be a good reason for some of us to meet up.

The first weekend is out for me, family stuff. But the next three weekends look pretty good for me. I've got a couple friends that will be taggin along too. Thompsonian PM'ed me with a ride route to the New River Gorge and back which looks pretty promising as well. Obviously well have some of the best ridin which ever ride we take.

Dave

Dave & Duane,

Let me know ahead of time if you all head this direction. I have vacation the 1st week of July and I plan on disappearing for a couple of days. If you guys head down near that time, I'll have all the time in the world to ride.

Dave: I'll be working on those maps this week and get those to you ASAP.

Thompsonian, You don't have to kill yourself to get us the WV Routes. My weekends are beginnin to fill up fast, Graduations, Weddings etc. are quickly fillin up the last few weekends of May and are leakin into June now. SOOOOOOOOOOO don't break your neck to get these to me in the next few day's. Even if we can't come down there in the next few weeks, It would still be great to have them, just in case we can get away durin the week. Some of the guy's are retired, so we can ride pretty much when ever we want. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!

Dave

No problem man. My nights here at work are *usually* pretty slow. And there is a Model T buff here that keeps an Atlas at his workstation so I can run out there are dig up cool routes anytime I feel like it!
