Got home today about 2:15, left Wheaton on I65 where he has the ugliest part of the ride - around Chicago. Our welcome back to Chicagoland was wind, rain and cold. Oh well, at least the ridin yesterday was good. Thanks for putting this together Wheatie - too bad the weather kind of split us up between two weekends. Good to meet some fellow riders - Geezer, Thompsonian, K-2, Vabrzn, Duane can't remember your forum name) Now on to Hooterville.!!

I got home last night just before dark. It was a cold ride home, but no rain and light traffic all the way. Except for that one little mishap I had a great time and made some more friends. Thanks to all who came out to ride and socialize.

Got back in about 3:00pm. Had a great weekend. Hope others did too. I will post up some pictures of our group later tonight.

I enjoyed meeting Gary/vabrzn briefly on Sat. night as well as seeing my buddy geezer again. I also got to meet and ride with Dave/thompsonian and K-2/Kenneth, as well as Duane/OHFJR who I've met before but hadn't ridden with.

Thanks to everybody for patience following this flatlander around...hope the pace didn't put anybody asleep. I enjoyed riding new roads 377(sweeper city with a view) :yahoo: as well as old standbys 145 and 564. We survived the venerable 555 :clapping: ...and enjoyed the sweeper heaven of 78 which also had some pleasant vistas as well.

I really enjoyed riding with our group of five alot...it was great fun. I enjoyed leading ...but also wish I was following yamaholic around like years before. maybe another time.

For those of you that couldn't come because I switched the dates around or whatever...I'm sorry circumstances kept you away. I followed the weatherman as best as I could...the weather forecasts just did not cooperate this year. For those that did ride the Ramble roads ...I hope you had a good time and got a flavor of how good the roads could be. For a weekend trip...I think I enjoy riding SE Ohio just about as much as anywhere. I sure had some fun riding this weekend. :yahoo: :yahoo: Weather was great on Sunday.

It was a great day...lots of good memories, curves and roller coaster hills, and good scenery...the red bud was in full effect.

Take care till next time. :)

I had a great three day trip ! Thanks WheatonFJR for putting this together ! I enjoyed meeting some new people and riding some new roads.

Sorry I had to split out early on the ride, but it was great to meet you guys! I had a good time and I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again at EOM this year.

BTW, I heard that you guys came upon my usual riding buddies on 536. I was talking to them today, since I passed them on 145 on the way home. Ron, with the R1, has a broken collarbone and the bike doesn't look too awful bad, but no that pretty either.

Nice pics guys. Looks like you had fun. Speaking of fun... Geezer, what happened? Did you go surfing, mister? Also known as a dirt nap according to Haulin' Ashe. You ok?

As an epilogue to this ramble adventure...I realize I said nothing about griff...I have to give kudos to griff for riding with me there and leading on the way back through the cold- setting a "brisk" pace as well. Getting dumped on with the rain and 22 mph crosswinds with gusts up to 30+mph was not fun, however griff kept up the pace and got me home before rush hour. He also is getting good at bailing me out when I need help because of dumb stuff I do. He is nice enough to give me mechanical advice - as I don't know diddly about that...

...so a big thanks to griff! :clapping:

Sounds like you guys had a great time! Sorry I missed this. Just now getting over my cold..so kinda glad I didn't go as that would have made me sicker.

I vote for a re-do later this summer!

Wheaton--great job on putting this together.

Sounds like some liked the roads and want a redo sometime later this year.

If some Ohioan wants to pick up the mantle and set up a date...post it and they will come. I might even be able to get away and show up.

I would however suggest opening a new thread...this one's getting kinda long. :dribble:

Alright, alright....I started this whole ramble craze way back in 2003..I suppose it won't kill me to pick the torch back up.

May kinda sucks for me. Doing the BRP and Smokies here in 2 weeks, have boating plans, house projects, etc. all month on the weekends. And ---ewww....have to travel to MICHIGAN one weekend for work. As a Buckeye...well let's just say I don't like crossing that state line too much!

But June may work. In fact, I know it will! More to come...and soon.

Hey Thompsonian,

What's the chances of puttin together about a half day ride through some of the roads in WV. I rode down this week by my self just to enjoy these rodes one more time. The reason for askin is a couple of my buddies want to come down in two weekends, and I thought maybe a half day below the border might be cool. You could just post the roads here for everybody, or PM me either way would be fine for us.

Dave

Hey Mike, any consideration on again having a WV ramble?

Scrapedup: You have PM. I will be happy to point you guys towards some good roads.

But wouldn't the WV Ramble be EOM? ;)

2 years ago Mike decided to hold the Ramble right after ST.Net's National Meet instead of having it in OH. It happened in the northern part of WV as opposed to EOM's ride area. Few roads overlapped. We even blew through Smokehole Road a couple of times that week. Boy was that weekend a good time!

I sure had some fun riding this weekend.
Thanks for pulling this ride together, Wheaton! I really enjoyed meeting you guys and riding with (or a ways behind you, as was often the case). You are excellent riders and were very gracious to me. After I split off at 78, I headed across 78 and eventually hit the interstate back to Indy. I love 78 and was glad to have been able to run it twice in one weekend! Hope to see you soon...
