Yeah, woo hoo!..... The routes look good. I will be a tag-a-long for the rides, also; I don't have a fancy GPS.... But I am pretty good at following. :D

KJ you are my heroSeriously thanks for all the hard work you have put into this.
I just gotta get a few of these old timers off the paper maps and into the present. I believe in maps and the art of navigating within, but seriously, it takes time and more focus than these new fanged doohickeys. ;) hehe
Seriously, some of these loops have many road changes (turns). I was just in Basecamp looking at the turn by turn text section. Holy crap! That's a list like mad crazy blind guy seeing eye dog stuff. I wouldn't wanna be looking down at all that info on my tank bag (which I'm too poor to own one anyways).

Any map (only guys) are welcome in my group to follow... If your not a putz. I go about 10 over, nothing crazy and I don't white knuckle it.... Well, I've been known to once n awhile, and, at NAFO I got chastised because of it :( . Hey, I'd rather enjoy it and see some surroundings and scenery vs. a constant road focus and line find.

Oh I'm ready... If ya couldn't tell ;)

Thanks for all your work on this, KJ. And, I don't know about your white knuckling part but you do like using your bike as a boat...

My TomTom Rider is limited to only (I believe) 48 waypoints so I do not think I will try to download the routes since I would have to update each one. Instead, I will tag along with someone else who wants to rip some OH and WV roads. :)
Shoot. I could of backed the via points down even more. I kept all the routes under ~80 via points at the max. I went with yamafitters 200 threshold. ....so I figured under 100 should be good. I only used this many via points to force the route.... This meaning how the user has his route preferences set. If I use to few of via points, then between points can be swayed away by the GPSs route preference (setting). Hope this makes sense.

I checked my Nav5, it takes a max of 5000 vp's. Holy cow, that must be for a world tour! .... Anybody game? ;)

U know what u could do Allen, take the routes into BaseCamp, delete the route but keep the track. Then, remake the route from that track and limit the via points. Then change the little route type icon from the default to your preferred profile, I use my motorcycle profile which is setup the way I like.

I know everyone shy's away from BC, but it's not that complicated. I'm only bringing my iPad, otherwise I could do this for you in minutes. If u bring your laptop w cable to GPS, I'll do it for you. No prob

If you are looking for accuracy and want to force the correct route without Mr Zumo taking shortcuts then it is best to break the loop into various parts and when you get to the end of one section you just start the next route and away you go. As I stated before we have to do this on some of our GPS dirt bike rides and it works fine and most have made it back out of the woods without becoming dinner for the bears.
I was playing around doing some cutting and pasting and was able to break the SEO15 Crix & Creeks into 9 parts and got it to load into my Zumo. I think I can get it down to 8 sections but this means that you will only be able to load one day's ride in at a time since most Zumos only holds 15 routes at a time I believe. I have a chore to do for a friend right now but I will work on this later and will send a link when I massage it a bit.

I'm hoping I have this worked out so I don't have to split routes/loops up and still make everyone slappy-happy.. It's been many of hours experimenting with not only my GPS (which is easy) but, I also have been getting the routes to mold up to an old Nuvi that I have kicking around (no, it's not the one Bill left at my house eitha!)

SEO15 Coal Miner Alley SO 357mi (SO stands for Slab-Out on the route downward). It makes reaching these Devils Den's roads more possible and still keep within a day ride, and the drink later mentality.

(For me) it migrates to both of my GPS' with perfect road to route-line. But I would like to know for you guys, so if you could test it? that would be great! (zoom in, make sure it molds to your mapset? remember, I used CN North America NT 2015.40 build). I'm sure if you have the same mapset a myself, no problem!, but let's see how versitile we can get with this w my latest map-build to migrate to your GPS.

.... I have about a dozen loops that I want to get active and up on the website. Waiting on some outside testers....

Coal Miner Alley = 357 miles, file size is 1.48MB, ~70 via points, plus I dropped in gas stations and restaurants as POI's. (lol) One thing I've learned with my boys here, food is a close 2nd to riding, so don't backseat it for nut-tin!

No computer wiz here and just starting to use BC, but I just downloaded SEO15 Coal Miner Alley SO 357mi from dropbox (without signing up) to Basecamp and then to Z550 and it seems to have worked. BC has CN NA NT 2014.4 and Zumo has CN NA NT 2015.2-don't know how that happened. After downloading to BC I recalculated and the route didn't seem to change

unlike some past event route downloads (with Mapsource)-thanks to the 78 via points I assume.

FWIW when I first downloaded to BC the turn by turn directions only showed the start and stop. After recalculating The turn by turn directions showed 35 turns.

THANKS for putting in the work required for this event.

You're welcome, my pleasure, I like doing this nerdie stuff ;)
No, the many via points is more for the GPS and how the user has it configured to follow between points. Having many doesn't allow for the GPS routes settings to supersede... Hopefully.

If u hookup your GPS with a later mapset when in your BaseCamp, BC can use the newer mapset. Unplug or unmount your GPS and BaseCamp reverts back to using the local older mapset.

Thanks for testing out that pre route :)

GPS Routes (downloads) are up on site now. No more modifications, that was the last two Months and I've got other things to do to get ready for the event.

Next up....Name Tags! (bring yur old lanyards people!), since this is a free event, no funding for the lanyards, but I'll supply the name-tags themselves. I'll make them on sticky backers also; for those who "will" forget.

-KJ

KJ, I have at least half a dozen extra lanyards I can bring. Will the name tags be landscape or portait oriented?

Which one is the hillbilly hot dogs route?
One of those magenta ones that dip to the lower left. Don't worry Bob, we got a home-wrecker preordered for ya... Pics needed. Maybe I'll be w u on that day n loop, then the stories will grow bigger than the home wrecker!....

Tentatively, I'm thinking I'm doing the SnowShoe loop Friday which stouts 400mi. and has just about everything. Then Sat, since I have to be back earlier to get ready for the parking lot shenanigans , I'm thinking the HillBilly Loop which is around 275.
If you do Snowshoe Friday, Maybe I can hook up with you somewhere. I will be riding in that day. I need to set up my Spot. I will be downloading all the routes now that you are done tweeking them....I think.
As for the home wrecker, they have a challenge to eat one in under 12 minutes, I think. The record is 2:52! WTF??? I just like tipping the girls, so they sing!

I was tossing this around. was thinking Landscape, what's your thought?

That would be pretty sweet if we could coordinate that. I'll have my iPad w me, and, can even mount it to my tank ring w Spotwalla displayed. Only problem with this that I see (with a perfect meetup) is the cellular signal that we'll need to sync this all up.

Anybody else up for a SnowShoe-400; and meet Bob on the lower side?? We'd have to be on the road starting the loop fairly early....

I don't use BC. TomTom uses Tyre and I think this is where the waypoint limitation is actually. I will download and edit some of the routes in Tyre and bring them with me in case there are other TT users wanting to know where to go!

I won't need a lanyard...I've already got a bunch (as I'm sure many of us do), and always have a couple with me.
