Per the "uh, like, I think so" gal I just spoke with Mel's should be open for lunch New Years Day. I'll have to verify that when someone who knows for sure is working.

Has anyone been down Stoney Creek road to Comanche Pky lately? I am looking for an interesting ride back after lunch in Jackson. Also need a recomendation or pick a group lunch spot in Jackson.
Stoney Creek to Pardee Dam to Paloma is a nice ride to get down to Hwy 26 and 12.

BTW gang, Hale Rd gets a bit goaty for a mile or two and don't be too surprised by a paved water crossing. A little standing wheelie should get you through dry as a bone...kidding. ;)

Thinking about bringing the XX for following you one up, Brad. Besides, it needs the exercise.

Okay you pricks fellow Forum members... , UberMensch has rescued me from myself and posted a breakfast location and ride route. Thank you, Uber. Mi-Hycle, let's coordinate. Silent, you in?

I got radio hook-up BTW.... :dirol:

Long-range forecast for Plymouth is partly cloudy, 20% chance of rain--which means an 80% chance of riding. :yahoo:

Naw, that's 100% chance of riding and 20% chance of getting wet.

Y'all skoot on up to Solano Baking Company at Pitt School and I80 I will buy the Coffee for whoever shows up. It will be damn early but I don't want to miss breakfast in Plymouth. A man has to eat you know.

Silent,

C'mon Ray, get up early and wake up JB on the way. I still haven't hooked up that brake thing I got from ya, and owe you more than a cup of coffee.

DrRich,

I know you are a busy man, but isn't school closed that day.

Rockwell,

I promise to use less gas next year if they let you come out and play.

I shal consider it. I don't know what I'm doing new years yet. Either I'm working, or recovering from to many adult beverages

Well said!

By the way, waking up early won't be a problem: I haven't seen the New Year come in since 2000. I'm in bed by 10:45. And I'll be in the middle of two weeks' vacation, so I won't mind giving up one morning of sleeping in ha ha!

I will try to make it.... I just want to be back sometime in the afternoon so I can watch USC kick the stuffing out of Illinois in the Rose Bowl!
Simple....once the group gets to Hwy 88 you could head downhill and bee-line home or, if time permits, ride the last loop, skip lunch and head for home.

If New Year's Day is anything like today, how could one NOT go for a ride. I zoom-zoomed through the gold country today on my Feej

- and the sunshine, and new rubber, and lots of bikes out doing the wave and everyone in the Christmas spirit - glad to be alive.

And Harley folks are some of the nicest humans on the planet. Just sayin'.

And even though the Packers got jolly-stomped (as opposed to jimmie-kicked) it was still a glorious day.

And Bustanut joker- you better get to shoveling that **** out of the driveway.

(This is not a hijack! Just adding to the enthusiasm for the ride!) :D

I'm a thinkin' it makes more sense for me to head out to Rio Vista and points east on Hwy 12.... :)

It makes great sense, I could come back that way after lunch.

I've never been down Latrobe road but guessed it to be about half hour from hwy 50 to Plymouth. I think I can make it to Latrobe in under an hour so that puts me leaving Dixon at 7:30.

Now being the rocket scientist that I am, I don't know if Solano Baking Company will be open. There is plenty at the Pitt School exit if they are closed. Like Starbucks, Denny's, McDonalds, Java California and more.If all else fails I will bring a pot of coffee if needed.

And Madmike, when is the forum gonna start payin' you for the services you provide? You need an agent.
I started out a bumbling, question asking, PIA, noobie FJR owner. Now that I've been around long enough to find answers and make the system work, I figure I owe it to the community for all they've provided for me. Besides, don't you know my mantra:

You meet the nicest people on an FJR, you really do!

I've updated the list of riders in post #2.

Yep, you've got it figured well. Take Latrobe Rd. South from Hwy 50 about 14 miles and turn left at the stop sign @ Old Sacramento Rd. That will take you through the pasture-land to Plymouth (be careful, there are some twisty closing radii turns), about 4.7 miles to Marlene & Mels.

Thanks Mike, and

Rosebud for lunch sounds good. They have a killer Philly cheesesteak.

Isn't Marlene & Glen's also known as "The Dead Fly Diner"? Damn good food.

I guess I'm in if I can get permission from SWMBO. Maybe she'll even join in.

Hey Rocket Surgeon.... I have a question for you????.... When I was a little boy my dad took me fishing. He told me about a fish called the Chinese Bloater. The fish swam backwards to keep the water out of it's eyes. If it is really cold on this New Years Day ride, if we ride backwards, will we stay warm?

I know we ride with a friendly bunch of guys and following each other is normal. Backing towards some of these guys might be more tempation than they can take.
