Dang Jeff!! We had heard there were no broken bones! shoot dude! well just enjoy the drugs and take it easy and heal up quickly.
so which year model are you thinking of going to next? 08? 09? do tell!
All of the x-rays and tests came up negative so they were going to release me, (that's when I put out the word that there were no broken bones), but when they told me to get up off the bed and walk to the wheelchair, well, I couldn't make it happen. So back on the bed and wheeled down for an MRI, and hey, what do we have here? These cracks shouldn't be here! No wonder I couldn't walk to the chair.

I like the black '08's, but shhhhhh, let's not talk openly about that yet. :)

FJRStar (Scott) and I made it home Monday evening about 8:15 pm after riding the 610 miles back to south of Houston.

I nearly collected a deer in the first mile after turning off HW 62 onto HW 23 south in Eureka Springs and saw several more along the way home.

Great trip and GREAT riding - I had 1900 miles total for the trip.

Jeff - be sure to save some of those good pain pills for a "rainy day" and glad to hear it was not worse.

I hope you have a speedy recovery! I hated to hear how bad you were injured. I did get a shot of the bike after it got back.

Cathy and I made it home safely about 5:30 on Sunday. Just under 1500 miles total. We had a terrific time on some of the best roads in Arkansas and Oklahoma even though we kept finding the rain and wind.

Michelle and Tony, thanks for all you did to make this such a great event!

We really enjoyed meeting everyone at the parking lot gatherings. What a great bunch of bikers!

Jeff, we sure enjoyed meeting you and were so sorry to hear about your off-bike sight-seeing adventure. Take it easy and get well soon. I hear that black 08 calling your name!

At the hospital, they gave me morphine, toradol, and percocet, separately at first and then in combination because I wasn't feeling any benefit from them. At one point, one of the doctors looked at me funny and asked if I had a prior history of narcotic use to explain my high tolerance for them now. Sadly, no, so in my case I'm not excited to save some for a rainy day. I'm totally with you on the concept, though! :D I just got a script for oxycontin so hopefully there will be some relief after all.

Please, no PM's from anyone asking for my leftovers. LOL

And yes, the incident could have been a LOT worse. Guard rails (armco barriers) are sometimes known for snapping legs, arms, and heads off if you get tangled the wrong way. In this case, it seems like the bike stayed between me and the barrier, so I was somewhat protected.

Same here, Bob, I really enjoyed meeting you and Cathy that first evening. As it turned out, we seemed to have a lot in common with previous careers, locations, etc. Best of luck to both of you, especially for Cathy's new business venture. I hope it really takes off so you can retire. :)

At this year's SFO, someone pointed out that my sliders had been mounted way too high. They were on the bike when I got it and I obviously hoped I'd never need to test them, but in the pic I see that at least one of them snapped off. I wonder if that's normal, or does it indeed indicate a mounting problem?

Anyway, thanks for the pic! It reminds me that I might need to remove some farkles, depending on what survived.

Paula, David, Michoel (MAHZO6), and myself made it home about 7 pm Sunday. 1235 miles for SFO, but about 3100 miles for the 10 day period. Went to the AMA Superbike races in Birmingham the weekend before...that was way cool.

We went all the way down 23 before we turned west into Oklahoma. It was dry but cool for about 60 or 80 miles and then the rain started. It was light to medium rain nearly all the way to the Oklahoma border. Thank God for good riding gear...

In Oklahoma I met the nicest young Law Enforcement officer I have met in some time. Typical scenario, the other guys had stopped for a quick pee break and Paula and I decided to go on ahead. We were going to stop in Durant to eat in about 40 miles anyway. Came through a wide spot in the road town, slowed to about 40, and coming back out of town there is an underpass where the road goes under railroad tracks. No traffic in front of us, instant on radar, FJR motor, well you get the idea...About a half mile down the road we are on the side of the road talking to the nice young officer. Of course the guys come by and I swear I can hear them laughing as they go by, though they swear they weren't. Yeah right. 82 in a 65. Holy crap. Told me to slow the %@##!$ down and be careful.

Anyway, was a great event, and will be back next year. Saturday was a top 10 day in my book. Great roads, weather, friends. Thanks chik for all you did and everyone else that had a hand in organizing the whole thing. Also, everyone should give huge kudos to the manager of the motel for coming to pick up Kirk at the crash scene. When he told us that the guy from the motel was coming to pick him and the bike up I was sure that he had a serious head injury. Sure as hell.

I took a good look at the sliders and wasnt sure that was normal..

On the right side the slider bolt had just snapped right off without any frame damage.

On the left side the slicer was still there but slanted forward about 25 degrees and the frame twisted with it.

Someone else at the sfo had there sliders mounted way higher than yours but I cant remember who.

Glad to see your feeling better and get well soon.

Jackie and I made it into Conroe on Monday about 6:30 PM after an overnight in Texarkana. 1800 miles for the trip total.

Major thanks to Michelle for organizing all this. Wonderful experience for an FNG. Bambi and I will definitely be back for next year. A big thanks to Tony for getting the rear tire installed on Saturday, I think we would have been down to the cords on the way home otherwise.

Jeff

P.S. A total cold shower this morning, had to crawl back to work and sit through a staff meeting then on to a Change Order meeting to go through the........ZZZZZZZZZ......whoops! Dozed off there with FJR dreams. Hard to think about anything but route 123 and the late night bull sessions in the parking lot. Too much fun everybody!

Frances and I made it home safely along with Roger and Lisa. Glad everyone had a good time.
Tony
Thanks go to Tony, Francis, Michelle and the motel management.

Btw, when was that avatar photo taken? It does not look like you.

Jeff, glad you came out of this pretty well. As soon as I get a place to park them, I'll put up a couple of shots I took to remind you of how much fun we all had!

OK, I think I've got it.

Ouch! Almost better (Almost!) to be in the ambulance than to see that.

Just finished washing the bike. It's amazing to see what a bug will do when going 100 MPH. The bug that is.

Soooo, what's the last thing that went through that bug's mind as he hit the windshield?
