So what's the up to date goss?

I have read that he was very unhappy with his share of royalties and resented Mikey who does nothing but gets a big handout because he is family. I just watched the tail end of the show where he leaves but missed the reason given on the actual show.

His hugs and kisses seemed genuine with everyone but the old man. He also had a big farewell with Mikey who in the info I read was the reason for his going.......

So whats the truth?

From the very little I've seen...they do most of the work and get the least of the credit. One always hopes they are well remunerated and receive royalties from the TV production. Ahhhhh, drama!

Not too surprised by Vinnie's departure given the fact that he (and others that are never shown on TV) does most of the work while the Teutels provide the "entertainment value". They are, after all, the owners.

I respect Vinnie but can't say I like OCC's gimmick-y bikes. I much prefer the "Biker Build-off" bikes ... but don't think there will be any new episodes. <_<

They're running new episodes now. They showed part 1 of the University of Michigan bike last week, finishing it this week. The computer dufus is trying to learn to be a fabricator. :glare:

As for the guys leaving, they never really gave a reason. Apparently having a different name from the owners of a family business limits your advancement options. (Ask me how I know.)

Now if they'd worked for Discovery Channel, then TLC, that's be different.

With any luck, the Teutel's fifteen minutes is almost up.

Three years ago, this July, I had the opportunity to see one of their production bikes that was being raffled off by a fire department group - limited chances at high $/chance. The fit and finish quality was not very good. Paint was marginal and the welds looked like they were done by a welding school student. Their prices have continued to climb, with their fame - just not their quality.

I always wonder, given the conflict/strife and unpleasant atmosphere they seem to take pleasure in depicting, how they keep employees at all. Unless, of course, it's all for the cameras benefit, to increase "dramatic content".

Good! I am happy to hear that and I hope the others go away soon as well :clapping: They did nothing for motorcycle building, and thier products were un-ridable pieces of crap  I could'nt belive they are still on TV. Thier "creations" I won't even call them motorcycles, Were ugly, cheaply built. cataloge created, poorly designed trophies for rich people who probably don't ride them, or can't ride them. If you've seen any of thier bikes for re-sale you'll see they don't bring in near the money that they cost new. The best part of the show was Mikey, because he refused to be part of those crappy creations and did his best to screw with the so called builders. "Thats all I have to say about that" :angry2:

I call them Christmas Trees. You mount an engine in a frame then hang decorations on it.

Vinnie claimed to tire of the pressure, which is prolly true.

The one thing that I give lots of cred to the Pauls is for the success they have. Yeah, they may build yucky looking bikes, but you can't deny their success. I give them major props for doing what they do - just wish I had the idea first!

I doubt there many true bikers or builders that watch that show anywy. I think their target audience are rub's and wanna be's that enjoy the family drama of Paul and his ***** son(s).

Hell yeah, I'd build tons of bikes that I didn't even like if it would make me that successful. Then again, I have not a shred of creativity.

True bikers or builders? What's a true biker or builder? Were talking about choppers here.

The drama is/was contrived for the TV audience. They have a product and it sells TONS. They have made a metric butt load of money making an inferior, though custom product through superior marketing.

First time I saw those clowns drilling some fender holes with a unibit I knew that QA was not a phrase they had any knowledge of.

I had worked on one of the extreme makeover houses when abc came to this area. I first hand saw how corners had to be cut to make a fanciful deadline and the show really focused on the drama between the on air personalities The house was sound, but your comments about the bike you saw made me think about that house--a lot of fluff--not real quality. I was one of the woodworkers that worked on the special projects the 'designers' came up with. It seems that entertainment, not quality, is the focus.

That did sound kind of elitist didn't it. Sorry. But you obviously get it.

I thought Vinnie and Mikey were best buds. Took vacations together and scooter outings etc. IMO Mikey is a worthless piece of *##*. To pay him anything is too much. What a waste.

FYIW OCC bikes are not registered in NYS. The owners, if they want to ride on public roads, have to register the bike themselves.
