Here is my story.

Leaving work. Still in the parking lot. I'm usually last to leave the facility, but, not this time.

I usually make a pass across the detector that opens the electronic gate and take a tight loop, and out the gate I go. This time two bicycles are trying to trip the detector to get the gate open. I pass by them to trip the detector and start to take my usual loop. This time I go a bit wider to let the bicycles get out. A car comes toward the gate to exit and does not appear to be going to wait for me to go so I swing a little wider still. One of the bicycles turns to ride back toward the offices. Jennifer is riding the bicycle. She is very nice and quite pretty. I raise my hand to give her a little wave and, BAM!, I'm on the ground. I ran into a concrete parking block.

I didn't get hurt but did about $5k to my bike. Man, those pretty girls can get you in trouble.

Also, familiarity with the routine ride through the area did me in when a couple of variables were added in.

OK, I mean...sucks for your bike and your wallet, but...

Ouch! Ego deflation... Was the wave and glance at her worth the $5K? Ask her to help pay for it. JK

Did she come by to help pick up the bike, or give you big hug, ....??

Bummer that happened, glad you're OK. I bet you won' do that again. And if you do, don't mention it here... especially on a Friday. ;)

I've almost done this several times. We all have. You just were unlucky that day. Maybe Jennifer will give you a kiss and make it all better!

Insurance is taking care of the bike.

I called my wife to tell her about my fall. When she answered the phone she was in the car with her shopping buddy. When I told her I had taken a spill on the bike but was not hurt she asked me how to put her phone on speeker phone so her friend could hear the story too. I told them the whole story and they laughed their heads off. I love my wife.

You're lucky x2. Bravo to your wife. :clapping:

All: What have we learned today?

Glad you're ok. Sorry about your bike. I'm on the same page as the wife, couldn't help laughing.

Sorry about the bike and immediate ego deflation. Pray that it wasn't captured on video... you'd be famous on You Tube.

Theirs not a guy here (well maybe 10% of them that haven't done it - I'm looking at the guys with the excessively clean bikes) that hasn't nearly done the same thing.

I remember when I was about 16 or so. My brother was giving me a ride to high school on the back of his Honda 550/4. He's tooling through the parking lot and Fran (god I wish I had pics) was walking by in a tube top. Background: Fran was a Toronto Sun Sunshine girl on 3 different occasions. Needless to say, he got whiplash of the eyeballs and proceeded to drive into the back of the car in front of us.

Low speed hit, bike just basically bumped and fell over. I couldn't even razz him about it.. I didn't even notice we were about to hit the ground....

The moral of the story?

When there's scenery to be seen, stop and watch. Then go!

Gary, sorry to hear about the spill. Glad you're okay!

Best wishes!
