So I went to birmingham saturday to watch the races sunday

And I passed a Gen 2 FJR on I-65 southbound, I was heading norht from Mobile, And I saw a completely stock black gen 2 at barbers motor speedway. Wanted to say hey to those guys.

But anyway I went to the track and watched the races, Had soem free tiem so I went thru the barbers motorsports museum. Wow, thats all I cna say. What a great collection of bikes. You really need 4 hours minimum to go thru it and completely appreciate all the bikes and cars. If you get time and are in that area, Its highly recommemded by me.

I've posted many pics from the museum and told anybody in earshot that you don't appreciate motorcycles if you haven't made the museum trip. My last trip was the AMA weekend this year.

Like all the other folks that have read this post without responding, I too have nothing to say.

Okay, I've been to the Barber several times -- once to the old museum (downtown) and a couple times to the new (spectacular) one. It's hard to make suitable comments -- to do it justice -- it's just as good as it could possibly be.

And, if you know about some of the bikes (or, want to know something) there's a good possibility you'll be able to get some info from one of the volunteer docents or, curator, Brian Slark himself.

When I was visiting the old museum the guys there found-out my background and invited me into the engine restoration shop where they had apart a '60s Honda Grand-Prix 4-cyl racing engine. The mechanic handed me an engine part and asked my opinion. That's something I'll never forget.

In the current museum, I was asking about a rare Italian motorcycle that had no info placard near it (but, a model I had considerable knowledge about) and I asked one of the volunteers if he knew ....some question). Soon there were several museum employees/volunteers gathered around asking me questions.

The place is about as good as it gets -- their approach is wonderful (motorcycles are made to run and ride and most of their bikes are kept that way).

I can't imagine (someone) not finding interesting machines to view, inspect, and ponder.

My bro in law rode his BMW 1150 down from Bangor Maine last week, and Friday we made the trip over to Barber from Canton, GA. Great trip , however next time I will take 75 to 285 to I 20 and avoid Rt. 92 south. Probably added 45 min. to an hour to the trip on a road filled with lights and stops.

The Museum is increible and a must see if anyone gets any where near Birmingham, Al. I will say that I did not see one Gold Wing in the bunch. Bro in law left Monday morning and was back in Portland Maine tonight at 7 to visit a friend.

Not what you think of when you say Gold Wing these days, but it was the original.

I've not seen an FJR in there, though. I've seen 2 FJ1200s and an FJ1100. . . .

I saw the wing, Saw alot of bikes. No concours, no FJR and no bandits though.
