If you can, detour a little further South SUNDAY in San Diego county and take Highway 76 up and over PALOMAR MNT.

From there you can ride down to BORREGO SPRINGS....the road down to Borrego (79 to Montezuma) is nice and smooth and twisty all the way down to the desert.

I might be able to lead you on this route if you want, let me know.

For your route from Ojai to Moorpark, unless you have a compelling reason to go through Ventura, I'd suggest taking 150 out of Ojai valley, and picking up 126 to Fillmore, then 23 down to Moorpark. Fillmore has been used as a location for TV shows, and has railroad history, which you will see when you roll into town.

We moved to palm Springs for the winter.

I hope we could meet while you are here.

Thanks but I don't think we'll have the time to head south before heading north... I will have to put that on the "next time" list!

There was a quirky bus stop in Ventura that I found on RoadTrippers.com but I think we'll skip it and follow your suggestions. Thank you!

From Three Rivers to the Madonna Inn, a good alternate route would be SR-198 (a great motorcycling road) over to US-101, then Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. to PCH.

Yup, we're gonna go with that... the views of the coast from N-F are stupendous!

We had a bit of a side journey when I hit a big rock on Angeles Crest that put a gash in one of the front tires. Tow truck called and taken to Chapparal Motorsports where they took her in. They didn't have the front tires in stock so had to go to another dealer in Riverside to get the tires and take them to Chapparal to install them. But it all got done and Sally and I were back on the road and did the Palms to Pines loop which was brilliant.

None of this would have been possible without the help of a forum member here... Robert/Fly Bye. He carted me around to get the tires and take me with them to Chaparral. I can't thank you enough, Robert, and that dinner offer is still good!! B)
