Which Alarm would be recommended to install on the 19th?, The chatterbox is all self contained, The Spy 5000m has more features but it looks like you're wiring up a bomb. I will be selling or trading the one I do not install. DR

I would install the one that had the best feature set and the best reviews/reliability. Fairlaner is the person I know with an alarm. You might ask him which one he has.

I'm curious if anyone who is attending has pulled the driveshaft to check the splines. Such was supposed to be done by the dealer on my recent service, but wasn't (in email said they would, now say they made a mistake and misunderstood my question :angry:

Anyway, Dealer Service guide says 1.5 hr job. Looking in the Service manual, looks like a number of specialized tools, replacement oil seal and circlip

- thoughts?

I've not gotten into the fairing on this bike (battery, etc). I wimped out and let the dealer disable auto-retract and install OEM heated grips. So, I'd be interested in seeing what's involved in taking tank off, getting seriously into front fairing, etc (and will offer my bike up as guinea pig if no one else is needing work done in that area.)

Oh, and I for those interested in checking out - I now have new PR3s front and rear (by time of tech day shoudl have approx 1k+ on front, 500 miles on rear)

Should be very straight forward after removing the rear wheel. Don't see any reason to remove the oil seal. IIRC, four bolts and off it comes. If I'm wrong someone will let us know, but I don't think so. No special tools are needed that I'm aware of. Other than that I think I have everything needed, including torque wrenches and jack.

Front fairing removal and tank removal are two seperate things. I've had the tank off several times (easy peasy) but never the front fairing. I've had the side fairings off several times also (also easy). Access to the battery is pretty easy also through the top panels - you'll see all that at the tech day.

You are correct Neil. The splines are an easy job. A few of us have had the front fairing off so if you need to do that we can help.

Hey that sounds cool, I know alot about bikes but would always step aside to have it done right. I wont pay attention to the others who say I will need AAA ect. I will just stay overnight on someones couch until its fixed. lol DR
