I've been wearing a pair of Sidi Air boots for a couple months now. I love them and they do flow a lot of air, especially when sitting out on the highway pegs. It makes Houston summer commute a lot easier. However, the boots fit a little more narrow than my previous Alpinestars boots. Thus, I can't wear regular athletic socks because they bunch and pinch. The boots fit fine with dress socks that aren't as thick.

So, I'm wondering if some of the motorcycle specific socks would be worthwhile. I'd love something that came up a little higher as dress socks only go about a half inch above the boots on me. I'd definitely need a thin sock, but hopefully one that won't wear out quickly. My intention is to only wear these for longer rides, but my dream sock would also come in black so I could sneak into the office wearing them. I don't know why all the ones I've come across are brightly colored pattens.

With that back story, I'll pose a couple questions.

1) Do the synthetic wicking socks help vs. plain old cotton?

2) Are there any specific product feedback that you have? I found a couple options on the interweb below that might work but feel free to suggest something.

I had a similar issue and after reading a bunch of reviews, posts, and emails I ordered these:

They're fantastic. Thick enough to be comfortable but not as thick as cushioned athletic socks. And the wicking effect is fantastic. I live in Alabama (hot, FYI) and wear them whether I'm in my short Bilt boots or my tall GoreTex-lined Aero Stars. I'm very happy with them (and will be ordering more).

In the summer my goal is to minimize insulation, considering the heat the FJR puts out on the lower legs and feet. So I use super-thin microfiber dress socks, from the Van Heusen outlet.
